A Florida Sheriff’s office will now pay a five-day tribute to any American law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty.
Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood made the public announcement on his Facebook, following the murders of Officers Ismael Chavez and Edelmiro Garza of McAllen, TX. Chavez and Garza will be the first officers to be recognized under the new policy:

Chavez and Garza were both murdered in an ambush-style attack while responding to a domestic disturbance call last Tuesday, July 11th. The suspect, Audon Camarillo, fatally shot himself after additional officers responded.
The Volusia Sheriff’s Office began the five-day recognition for Chavez and Garza Monday, July 13th, and will commence Friday, July 17th.
