Democrat Joe Biden rewarded a nonprofit group with a massive amount of taxpayer dollars for border work, one who hired a friend of his on his first day in office. The friend has experience protecting “migrant’s rights”, and was hired to work on a border crisis that has been completely invented by the Democrats.
“The contract is by far the largest ever awarded to Family Endeavors. It’s potentially worth more than 12 times the group’s most recently reported annual budget — a sign of the demand the new work will place on its operations,” Axios reported. “The no-bid contract also is the second largest ever awarded by the agency overseeing the migrant child program.”
What is most curious about this story is the organization got the contract after it hired Andrew Lorenzen-Strait, who advised the Biden transition team on Department of Homeland Security policy and staffing matters, to be its senior director for migrant services and federal affairs.
THE ACTIVIST FRIEND
Strait, who has experience working with transgendered prisoners, and who, according to his company Bio: “is a member of the U.S. Supreme Court Bar, and in 2007 was recognized by the Governor of Maryland as the state’s Pro Bono Attorney of the Year for his legal aid activities in Prince George’s County, MD. He lives near Annapolis, MD, with his husband, two daughters, and son.”
The non profit group who got the massive federal money, according to their site:
Established in 1977, Endeavors’ Housing Program provides permanent supportive housing to female Veterans, as well as individuals and families with mental illness and/or disabilities.
So now they will be working with illegal migrants to get them placed in the United States.
According to a press release from the organization dated, Jan 20, 2021, Strait was hired on Biden’s first day in office:
SAN ANTONIO, Jan. 20, 2021–Endeavors is pleased to announce the official appointment of Andrew Lorenzen-Strait as the Senior Director for Migrant Services & Federal Affairs at Endeavors. He will assume responsibilities for the position beginning January 25, 2021.
Andrew will lead a nation-wide team of dedicated professionals providing critical social services to migrants, including unaccompanied children, single adults and families. Mr. Lorenzen-Strait will also lead Endeavors’ government affairs effort in the national capital region, advancing our mission and core values through Federal government program development and procurement opportunities in the nation’s capital.
“We are fortunate to gain a leader with Andrew’s expertise and vision,” said Jon Allman, Endeavors President and CEO. “As we continue to grow as an organization, we are confident Andrew will support us in building better partnerships, transforming the communities we serve, and ensure our new programs and services are a first-class experience for the people using them.”
Mr. Lorenzen-Strait has over 15 years of experience and is a recognized expert in migrant protection and advocacy. Before Endeavors, Mr. Lorenzen-Strait served as the Director of Children and Family Services at Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS). At LIRS, he oversaw a national network of faith-based and nonprofit partners that provide foster care and case management services to unaccompanied immigrant children. Before his work in civil society, Lorenzen-Strait started his Federal service as a Presidential Management Fellow for the U.S. Department of Justice and later served as the country’s first national migrant Public Advocate within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
