If we ever needed an example of how there are two sets of rules in politics and society about racial issues, look no further than the series of events around Republican Senator Tim Scott from South Carolina and the reaction from the Democrats about his rebuttal to Democrat Joe Biden’s speech last week, and the fall out for them over calling him an “Uncle Tom” and an “Oreo”.
“On Tuesday, after Gary O’Connor, the chair of the Lamar County Democratic Party in Texas, had offered his resignation in the wake of blowback for calling Senator Tim Scott an “oreo” on Facebook, the Lamar County Democratic Party declared it would not accept his resignation.
O’Connor had written after Scott’s rebuttal to President Biden’s State of the Union speech, “I had hoped that Scott might show some common sense, but it seems clear he is little more than an oreo with no real principles,” reported the Daily Wire.
After years of being accused of all manner of racial slights against people of color, Republicans have been called WHite Supreminists and accused of getting ahead because of the color of the skin and called racist at every single turn. Yet, when Democrats literally call a man an “Uncle Tom” and get Big Tech to trend it for public consumption for 12-14 hours, other Democrats jump and call a Black American man an “Oreo”.
Apparently, it is ok for people to slander and defame someone, to malign their character, and to hurl racial insults at them if they are Black, and it is a protected Democrat who is the abuser. Most Americans accept that is part of everyday life now.
And now, to add insult to injury, the Democrat who called Scott an “Oreo” handed in his resignation after public outcry, and the Democrats rejected it. What an immature spectacle. There is just no way that a serious-minded person could consider the Democrats to help build a civil society.
Lt. Col. Alan West, the Chairman of the Texas GOP, had something to say about it:
You know, many people on the Democratic Party side continue to talk about how Republicans and people who don’t agree with them are white supremacists or racists. The fact that we want election laws, that makes us “Jim Crow.” Well, the Democrats were the ones who started Jim Crow. But just recently, a former colleague of mine, Senator Tim Scott, well, some Texas Democrat county chairman from Lamar County, Gary O’Connor, referred to Senator Tim Scott as an “oreo.”

So I think I will walk over to the Texas Democrat party or mail it to them, a nice little package of Oreos because until this guy resigns, I am going to stand up and speak out against the party of systemic racism, the party of the soft bigotry of low expectations. They want to call people such as myself that don’t believe in them, that don’t want to be on the 21st(century) economic plantation “Oreos.” I want to make sure that we send Oreos to the Texas Democrat party because I am sick and tired of the duplicitous hypocrisy of the true party of racism.
