Apparently, Leslie Stahl of 60 Minutes was welcomed into the White House on Tuesday to do an interview with the President and Vice President of the United States and Stahl, who is often combative with President Donald J. Trump, was hostile to people working in the White House, before the interview and so hostile during the interview that Trump walked out on her.
Social media was a buzz with people tweeting from their different perspectives, some obviously attempting to save Stahl from embarrassment. Stahl was apparently unable to be professional and keep her personal bias to herself, long enough to give an impartial interview.
From Twitter sponsored content, they promoted the story that appeared to be somewhat of a mocking tone,
President Trump “abruptly ended” his 60 Minutes interview after around 45 minutes, according to CNN, The New York Times and Politico. Trump later Tweeted that journalist Lesley Stahl was “not wearing a mask in the White House after her interview,” and indicated he may post the interview earlier than scheduled “for the sake of accuracy in reporting.” Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris were also interviewed, and are scheduled to appear in the same program on Sunday.Video via @realDonaldTrump“
It appears as if Trump is suggesting that Stahl was being hostile enough that he ended the interview with her abruptly.
According to CNN:
“President Trump abruptly ended a solo interview with CBS News’ “60 Minutes” Tuesday and did not return for an appearance he was supposed to tape with Vice President Mike Pence, according to multiple sources familiar with what happened. After camera crews set up at the White House on Monday, Trump sat down with host Lesley Stahl for about 45 minutes on Tuesday before he abruptly ended the interview and told the network he believed they had enough material to use, according to two sources.CBS News did not immediately respond to a CNN request for comment. When reached for comment, the White House did not dispute CNN’s reporting. The President later accused Stahl of not wearing a mask and tweeted out a brief clip of her without one while at the White House.”
Kamala Harris were also interviewed by “60 Minutes” and all four are scheduled to appear in the same program on Sunday. While Biden and Harris taped their interviews separately, Trump and Pence were scheduled to appear on camera together, like they did four years ago, for a walk and talk session. But Trump did not return for the appearance with Pence, sources said.
The media, who are rooting for Joe Biden to win, are thrilled by the idea of hurting Trump and were giddy with the idea that he was upset enough to end the interview, promoting the idea that he was hurt from having 60 minutes get the better of him.
Trump announced at a rally in Erie PA that he had plans for the interview:
