On Saturday in front of the DC prison, Suzzanne Monk, the founder of Re-Open America videotaped concerned citizens led by Matt Braynard and his group “Look Ahead America” as they protested the extended detainment of political prisoners being held in a Washington DC prison by Mayor Muriel Bowser since Jan 6th.
“We sing the National Anthem each night from behind our locked and sealed doors,” Matt Braynard said reading from a moving letter from one of the detainees.
“We are just regular patriot-loving Americans with a tendency toward humorous shenanigans, although you would find that hard to believe listening to the media. None of us planed to overthrow the US government on January 6th. The liberal media will try to convince you were were fuled by hatred for America and don’t deserve mercy,” the letter went on.
“I truly believe that it in no time before the truth will spread faster than a Chinese lab experiment. You are true patriots and we are thankful for all you do and we pray for our country. Fellow Americans we have been sitting here in the DC jail for months in solitary confinement with no visitation. We are threatened with violence on a regular basis by guards, who at any moment, in the middle of the night will unlock our cell door, turn off their body camera, and beat us in handcuffs while accompanied by a few others. We live under the constant threat of being beaten of maced by correctional officers who clearly hate our patriots. The Bible teaches us through the book of Job to keep our spirits up. The media will have you believe that we are evil, violent and racist. This could be further from the truth. CNN and others absolutely lie about us. I have been told by some correction officers that the men in custody here are very respectful and we are very diverse,” Braynard said, reading further.
“We saw all that had been taken from us, and slivers that were left were so dripping with leftist propaganda we didn’t want them anymore. Like Facebook, and we saw hours and hours of election hearing, and half of the country innocently wanted to see an audit we were ignored and called stupid by the people who lie about everything else. Social media was censoring us, and we could not even speak. Our jobs lost, our churches closed, and then were censored on social media. Where did our freedom go? And then after a bad year, on Jan 6th we wanted our voices to be heard. We are not monsters. We are your countrymen. We feel forgotten and ignored. We could use a compassionate hug from loved ones. We are praying for mercy and justice and we are praying for America,” the letter read.

After Braynard read the letter he included some other speakers. “Protestors are not domestic terrorists, what happened to Due Process?” one participant yelled into the crowd. “Why were BLM rioters not treated this way?” she yelled.
“The detainees have been charged and denied bail,” Braynard said, according to one of the parents of a detainee who spoke.
Another detainee’s father read a letter from his son who thanked a Sunday school for a letter from children, and he talked about the inhumane conditions in which he is held, especially since was diagnosed with cancer. The letter spoke about his faith and his isolation. “My wife and friends tell me about the support out there for us. I feel like I have been sentenced to death. Here I sit with no treatment for my cancer. I am praying this will all get better. Please tell my wife Trish that I miss her. I have kept my faith throughout all of this,” the letter read.
“The event was heavily attended by Asian immigrants who are fearful of a Chinese Communist Party system installed in the United States.
Relatives of DC political prisoners talked to attendees about the harsh conditions and serious charges their loved ones are being subjected to, including being held in solitary confinement for months, being maced by prison guards, and unequal treatment compared to ANTIFA and BLM terrorists who literally burned cities, looted, and killed Americans.
All of those charged for ‘insurrection’ at the U.S. Capitol were unarmed. There were no weapons found.”
Braynard’s group arranged the speakers and bus transport to the site.
“Just talked to one of the detainees. They can hear all of you and are grateful for the support. Thank you for this #freepoliticalprisoners,” posted attorney Julie Kelly.
