The long and twisted tale of the criminal case against political icon and associate of President Donald J. Trump is not over, even after Stone was convicted by a rouge court, persecuted by a biased judge, burdened with a gag order, and finally freed and given a presidential commutation of sentence.
But the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Justice is not happy and is investigating- again, apparently not satisfied with the word of the President of the United States. It is unclear at this point what the OIG has investigated on the claims of Trump supporters, or of Republicans. Leaks about the many investigations are only coming from one point of view- the Democrats.
“I welcome this investigation because it will prove that the original sentencing recommendation by the prosecutors in my case violated DOJ policy and was riddled with inaccuracies and falsehoods. More importantly, a real investigation will demonstrate that both Jonathan Krab and Aron Zelinsky Committed perjury in this controversy,” Stone told me.
“This will not be the only investigation because shortly I will file a formal complaint with the department of justice, his office of professional responsibility in which I extensively document the corruption violation of the law and perjury by all four prosecutors in my case. Before I am done none of them will be admitted to the practice of law,” Stone said.
The Hill reported Tuesday on the matter:
“The Justice Department’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is investigating the department’s intervention in the sentencing of Roger Stone, NBC News reported, citing two people familiar with the matter.
The two sources said the probe will focus on a period in February when prosecutors have said they were told to recommend a lighter sentence because of Stone’s friendship with President Trump.
All four prosecutors working on the case quit after Attorney General William Barr overrode the prosecutorial recommendation of seven to nine years. Stone was sentenced to 40 months on seven felony convictions, including lying to investigators and witness tampering. However, the president commuted his sentence in July.
Aaron Zelinsky, one of the prosecutors involved in the case, testified before Congress in June that he had been told to recommend a lighter sentence by the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia.”
This seems to be a case where career politicians are using the full weight of their public offices to harass a supporter of Trump’s and to get revenge for other career politicians who were not happy with the changes in the policy of Trump’s agenda.
Even though the American people love the saying made popular at Trump rallies before Trump’s 2016 victory “Drain the Swamp” meaning, does not mean that the players were going to give up their power easily and without a long-drawn-out battle.
Trump, famous for a wildly popular show called “The Apprentice” where he fired slackers and losers, is not so popular with the professional class in DC and has faced enormous pressure to keep the “quid pro quo” of past administrations.
Stone is victim of their revenge.
REVENGE OF THE SWAMP
The career politicians’ resistance of Trump’s Presidential authority has been an exhaustive rabbit hole of bureaucracy, corrupt power grabs and harassment of people, like Stone, who support a smaller decentralized government, and more individual liberty for American citizens.
It is unclear what role the OIG plays in this, after the President has given a commutation of sentence, or what the end goal is for the department. The OIG appears to be taking the side of the disgruntled career politicians, over Barr, the attorney general and Trump the President of the United States, but again, we are dealing with leaks about investigations that represent one side.
Deven Nunes was on Maria Bartiromo’s show, Sunday, and reminded her that there are 4 investigations into the circumstances against Trump. One investigation is US Attorney John Durham, which is expected to be finished soon, according to Attorney General William Barr.
It is unclear if the OIG is investigating the obstruction of Justice by the Mueller team, who should be investigated for destroying Federal records the OIG wanted, that would something the American people are entitled to from public servants.
