In a long string of assaults on American liberty over the past two decades, we have gotten to the place where there is a literal two-tiered system of investing that has existed for a while but is just emerging into the public consciousness. People are exposing the inequalities as the “Ape Army” social media.
If you are like me, a lot of this investment stuff goes right over your head. So let’s dive in and see if we can pull out some data points to understand this movement.
Carol Roth reported for Fox News about the situation:
“Gamestop, AMC was just the beginning, it looks like our entire economy is rigged This is not capitalism. This is a war on small business and individuals”
We are, as one member of what is known as the “ape army” explained to me, in the midst of a digital version of Occupy Wall Street. This time, these retail investors, whether they be those “apes” rallying around AMC’s stock, other meme stock traders, members of subreddit forums like r/wallstreetbets and r/Superstonk, and other individuals aren’t holding signs in the streets. They are instead trying to use their balance sheets to fight back.
Their concern? That Wall Street is tilted against them and in favor of the big market insiders. And they are right.
In fact, it is much deeper than that. Our entire economy is now, in large part, rigged, as it has been moved further away from free-market capitalism to a cronyism nightmare where central planners and big companies work together to consolidate power. They scratch each other’s backs and ultimately tie up loose ends that get in their way of rolling up money and control. Small businesses and small individuals, which make up the backbone of the economy and stand for economic freedom, have been both passively and intentionally targeted.
ECONOMIC NATIONALISM AND POPULISM VRS. THE RIGGED SYSTEM
“This is a Populist movement,” Steve Bannon, who was CEO of Breitbart News when Occupy Wall Street was unfolding, said on his podcast Bannon’s War Room talking about the Ape Army. “These are not necessarily Republicans, there are a lot of Democrats in there.”
“It is not the job of the government to tell American investors what they can and can not buy,” Boris Epshteyn told Steve Bannon on Bannon’s War Room on Tuesday talking about a populist rising of marginalized.
“The little guy continues to be beaten back while the rich and elite get ahead, so God bless the Apes,” Epshteyn said.

They are average Americans who are investing small amounts of crowd-sourced money.

As Fox News reporter Roth wrote, the Ape Army is a continuation of what happened earlier in the year with the Game Stop Stock. I wrote about the Same Stop Stock at the time, and I have not really gained more interest in investing in general, but to hear Bannon talk about it, this is a sort of American revolution in itself.
I do love a good story of when the little guy wins. What a great post. The Apes are people looking for the American dream. Ok then, God bless the Apes.
All I wish for is a fair playing field. We are #ApeArmy , all 4+ millions of us. I just love this stock #AMC $AMC
