On January 6th, one person was shot and killed. A woman named Ashli Babbit was a US military veteran with law enforcement experience who had traveled to Washington DC from California, and she was alone and she was shot and killed while she was with a group of people on Capitol Hill, her killer is still unknown. Her husband gave an interview recently his experience.
“Please say her name and talk about her, we can not let this just go away. I am strapped in, and I am not going away. I will spend the rest of my days and demanding justice for her,” Aaron Babbitt.
The following is a partial transcript of an interview between Aaron Babbitt and Ledger Graham.
A group of people breaking windows to doors at the US Chamber in Capitol Hill. One-shot was fired at the crowd from behind the doors that struck and killed veteran Ashli Babbitt.
Aaron tells the story that his wife made the plans around Jan 1st for a plane ticket because she wanted to see President Donald J. Trump speak in person. He confirmed that had gone by herself.
She marched to the beat of her own drum,” he told Graham Ledger in an interview. “I saw the film of her dying once and I try not to look at it. Ashli was a police officer, in law enforcement for 14 years in the military. I believe she thought that they opened that up for her, and that she had a Constitutional right to be there, on that side of history With all of the law enforcement training if she knew someone had a gun she would have stepped back.
The night of the 6th I heard from three different people. Congressman Daryl Issa, because my business is in his district. I heard from a homicide detective from DC Metro and that quickly turned into me getting a phone call from Internal Affairs DC Metro, so homicide had quickly transferred to internal affairs, and apparently Internal Affairs Metro is investigating it with an external department. I don’t know how that works. How much of an interview can they do? They cleaned the crime scene up in 10 mins. That is a crime scene. They cleaned it up, mopped it up threw her beanie down in her blood, drug her out upside down and I don’t know what the investigation could happen.
THERE IS A GIVE SEND GO ACCOUNT FOR: JUSTICE FOR ASHLI BABBITT FOR LEGAL FEES
1st week of February it was leaked that even though they were going to keep investigation, they can weren’t going to conclude what happened.
DC Metro didn’t squash that or care enough to squash that.
In April they tell me they officially closed the case. They weren’t investigating anything.
Capitol Police don’t have to answer FOIA by DC Metro do and we have requested everything in the investigation. They are not even acknowledging the request, but we are not giving up. They took my wife’s voice, but now I have it, and I will not give up speaking up for her.
So if the investigation is over, why don’t I have my wife’s stuff? I am still paying on her phone that they won’t give me back. So they are still holding on to all of this stuff. And why?
To use the word patriotic is an understatement, she 4 tours overseas, she took her parents down to sign up for the AirForce at 17. It is hard every day knowing that I don’t have my friend anymore. We were always together. To have that all ripped away from you in one moment. Everyone loved her. She loved animals. She loved talking to people about politics. It would always end with a beer, and that is how it was with her. She loved people. She loved President Trump.
