Reporters in Portland posted on Twitter that there are some 600 cars participating in the conservative pro-Trump car caravan just outside Portland and the group was planning to drive through Clackamas to Portland. Antifa are discussing ways to oppose & stop them. They were unsuccessful in getting the rally cancelled.
The event was taking place in a Portland suburb (Clackamas). The event is peaceful. The name of the group that organized the group is called “Maga Drag the Interstate”.
” They’re all going to drive into Portland. Antifa have used nails and other sharp objects to pop tires at their riots,” Andy Ngo posted on Twitter. “The travel route has been released. Looks like they’re all staying on the highway around Portland and are not going into downtown.,” he said.
A Correspondent for the New York Times posted video and commentary:
“Organizers encouraged concealed carry to the event, but some are open carrying,” Barker said. “With the usual caveat that I’m terrible at crowd estimates, I’d say about 1,000 people are here throughout the parking lot right now and maybe like 1 million flags. The current plan is to drive into Portland as a huge caravan at 6 p.m.” he said.
Another reporter posted on Twitter:
Police were on the sceene, and directing traffic, trying to keep things under control.
The far left was “Terrified”.
The event was identified as a Trump Caravan and Back the Blue rally:
According to their website, MagaDragTheInternet.com their mission is:
“American patriots from all corners of the Country will gather together and organize into rolling flag parade caravans within their States. They will circle their highways and byways, ending at their capital cities in a glorious flurry of red, white, and blue–and a big ol’ heap of old-fashioned American patriotism.
In cities across the Country participants will begin in several major cities from areas around their state to form local caravans that will eventually combine into a single, large rolling parade that will route through the Capital city and spread a message of hope, unity, and patriotism.”
