Vernon Jones is a Republican candidate for the office of Governor in Georgia. Jones served as a Democrat member of the state legislature during the 2020 Presidential election and switched parties on Jan. 6th due to his support of the policies set out by President Donald J. Trump. Jones was a first-hand participant in state government and “knows where the bodies are buried” in Georgia, so his point of view is informative. On Sunday he was calling people out.
Jones’ office released a statement about an audit, slamming the state government, and he tweeted out an interesting jab at the Secretary of State, telling him he should resign over “lies” about the election.
Statement by Vernon Jones (R), Candidate for Governor of the State of Georgia
– July 18, 2021 –
I am glad to see that Georgia Speaker of the House David Ralston and others are finally calling for a GBI investigation into the fraud being uncovered in Fulton County.
But, as I have been screaming from the rooftops for months, we need a forensic audit in all 159 counties in Georgia. This statewide audit should be the “people’s independent audit,” paid for with taxpayer dollars and conducted by an independent, non-partisan, expert organization like Cyber Ninjas, the company being utilized in Maricopa County. This should NOT done by the GBI. I went to Maricopa County to tour the on-going audit there, it was professional, detailed, efficient and thorough.
Georgia voters are tired of this charade. Brian Kemp’s GBI was asked to help investigate the election in December of 2020 which resulted in nothing. Now, we are learning there is plenty of clear and irrefutable evidence of fraud and errors in Fulton County, including mismarked tally sheets, missing tally sheets, missing chain of custody documents, and double counting of ballots.
Let me repeat: WE NEED AN INDEPENDENT PEOPLE’S AUDIT!
It is clear, Georgia politicians – including Brian Kemp and Brad Raffensperger are only now reacting to all of this because they are feeling the heat from Georgia voters to do something. Voters have run out of patience and these politicians are backed into a corner. Make no mistake, they will be playing politics to cover their own behinds.
Do not let up until they call for a full, independent people’s audit of all 159 counties, and a criminal investigation of the fraud that audit will undoubtedly uncover.
THEN JONES BUSTS THE SECRETARY OF STATE
Wait a minute @GaSecofState, you told @60Minutes @CNN @ajc and other liberal media the GA 2020 election was perfect. You lied to GA voters. Resign now! @MariaBartiromo @jsolomonReports @bluestein. https://t.co/fgyUj0fj8B

Jones busted Raffensperger for tweeting about elections reforms that were needed. The embattled Secretary of State tweeted in reaction to an article were it was reported in the left-leaning Atlanta Journal”
“Fulton County has failed its voters for far too long. That’s why I took action last year to try and fix the issues in their elections management. Clearly, more work and more dramatic steps need to be taken.”
“Fulton, state sign deal to end investigation of June 9 voting debacle.”
From their article:
The State Elections Board on Friday approved a negotiated consent order with Fulton County, requiring the county to enact improvements in the way it runs elections or face a $50,000 fine.
Many of the improvements outlined in the order have already been instituted by county elections officials, after a disastrous June primary that saw voters waiting in line for hours.
Following the primary, Fulton’s county commissioners doubled the amount budgeted for elections to $34 million this year.
“In elections, we want to make sure that government works for the people,” Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said during a Friday press conference. “And that’s what people are looking for. They’re tired of the issues. That’s what everyone wants. We want a smooth election process.”
The June 9 election in Fulton was anything but smooth. Problems in Fulton became obvious early, with long lines and an unknown number of people who never received their requested absentee ballots. Raffensperger called for an investigation of Fulton’s absentee ballots during the last days of early voting.
