Shocking video surfaced on Social Media of a 3-Alarm fire on the US Navy Ship, USS Bohomme Richard, an amphibious assault ship at the San Diego Naval Base. There was an explosive fire reported just before 11 am Pacific time.
“The Bonhomme Richard was docked for scheduled maintenance between deployments, said Krishna Jackson, a Navy spokeswoman.
“The sailors assigned to it were staying in Navy or private housing on shore and were not on board when the fire started, she said.”
Multiple injuries were quickly reported. Early reports by MSNBC were that there was an “apparent explosion”.
San Diego Fire and Rescue Department was on the scene, posting on Twitter, “Explosion with at least one injury at the USS Bonhomme Richard,” the fire department wrote adding it was working with Federal Fire to account for all sailors and clear the area.
Within 30 mins, first responders have evacuated the entire Pier area.
