The left is so accustomed to having their way with Black America, who never complain, that it is surprising when Hollywood screwed up at a recent Saturday Night Live program and got some push back. SNL let their veil down and showed how little they really care about the feelings of Black Americans.
“The sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live is under fire with accusations of racism and cultural appropriation after a skit aired over the weekend mocking slang and speech patterns used by today’s teenagers,” reported getoutspokenow.com, a media website for the Log Cabin GOP.
The Hill reported about the dastardly skit:
The skit fell flat and was criticized for mocking AAVE, which Black people are often discriminated against for using.
The skit also prompted a discussion of white youth culturally appropriating Black culture.
So you know what “bestie,” “I’m so pressed,” “catch hands” and “give us the tea,” all mean — but do you know their origins? That’s the question many viewers are asking after a “Saturday Night Live” (“SNL”) skit sought to poke fun at language used by Generation Z that originated in African American Vernacular English (AAVE).
1. this is horrible. snl is tanking.
2. the majority of terminology used in this sorry excuse for a skit is aave. Black people cant have shit, its weird to see our language referred to as gen z/stan slang & see white screenwriters try to create pieces using it

SO ‘AAVE’ WAS TRENDING ON SOCIAL MEDIA – BUT WHAT IS IT?
Activists on Twitter allege the skit, called “Gen Z Hospital,” appropriated, mocked, and satirized the use of African American Vernacular English, or AAVE, by calling it Gen Z speech. For many people, that is nothing more than a confusing mess. But to many leftist activists, it is essential.
It's been weird as hell to see AAVE treated as a Gen Z language 🙁 https://t.co/ZgJtBxpZgy

From their article, Outspoken reported that it might now have really been racist:
“But the accusations of racism and cultural appropriate appear to be unfounded in linguist science. Since the 1980s many linguists have studied African American Vernacular English using real-life speech, interviews, and film. One linguist, who spoke to Outspoken and requested anonymity, said the skit doesn’t appear to conform to the well-defined grammatical and phonological structure of AAVE.
“AAVE is a well-studied dialect with established patterns of pronunciation and grammatical structure. That skit does not exhibit any of the very common features found in most styles of AAVE.”
Another linguist, Jack Sidnell, a professor of linguistic anthropology at the University of Toronto, compiled basic information and features of AAVE. None of those appear to be part of the skit which instead deploys popular jargon used by teenagers of all races.
The skit, which stars guest host Elon Musk as a doctor, uses terms like “bestie,” “dead ass,” “cringe,” “yo,” “bro,” “pressed,” and phrases like “leave me on read” and “give us the T.” It features six other SNL cast members of multiple races, and openly gay Kate McKinnon, portraying teenagers today.
“Generation Z” is the commonly used term to refer to this age group. Pew Research Center reports, “anyone born between 1981 and 1996 (ages 23 to 38 in 2019) is considered a Millennial, and anyone born from 1997 onward is part of a new generation.”
BUT THE BLACK LEFT IS STILL ANGRY WITH THE SNL- A LEFTIST COMEDY SHOW
“This Gen Z hospital skit on SNL is so stupid. I’m so tired of nonblack people throwing random AAVE terms in their sentences and calling that horse shit Gen Z language,” Pzifer Princess posted.
“The joke is that the “gen z hospital” skit on snl is just regurgitated AAVE used out of context by old yts,” another poster wrote.
“I don’t watch SNL because it simply is not funny, but like…that skit is so troubling for me because AAVE is divorced enough from Black people (through appropriation) that “Gen Z Language” has stuck but not enough that Black people are no longer being mocked.”
“AAVE is trending because SNL called it Gen Z speak. The delegitimization of AAVE has been going on for ages. The truth is far more interesting & complex.”
“Gen Z hospital was literally just AAVE … SNL needs to be stopped.”
