New York Governor Andrew Cuomo during a rant on Wednesday came off sounding a lot like he was threatening Trump’s safety and well-being if he returns to New York City during a rant responding to a story run in the New York Post that President Donald Trump is looking to pull federal funds from “lawless” cities including New York.
The president took to social media to get the point across, because Fake News constantly filters what he says. This way, the American people can get it straight from him.
Cuomo quickly put together an emergency press briefing Wednesday night to attack the president for the order, which cites New York’s rising murder rate and defunding of the NYPD.
“He better have an army if he thinks he’s gonna walk down the street in New York. New Yorkers don’t want to have anything to do with him,” the Democrat said, which sounded like he was threatening America’s Commander in Chief. What a dope. Trump is the Commander-in-Chief. Think about that for a minute. Also, think about how Trump has been offering the National Guard, an army if you will, to be sent into Democrat-run cities that are on fire.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, Cuomo, who also comes from Queens, wasn’t done. “He can’t have enough bodyguards to walk through New York City, people don’t want to have anything to do with him.”
I know New Yorkers who love the president, and can’t stand NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio or Andrew Cuomo. This is the same man who told conservatives that because they were against abortion they were not welcome in New York.
“The Republican Party candidates are running against the [New York Secure Ammunition and arms Enforcement Act] – it was voted for by moderate Republicans who run the Senate! Their problem is not me and the Democrats; their problem is themselves. Who are they?” he asked during an interview with Susan Arbetter on “The Capitol Pressroom.”
Cuomo added, “Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and they’re the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.”
The governor said he doubts the legality of Trump’s five-page memo ordering a review of federal funds to see if they can be redirected from New York City, Portland, Seattle and Washington, DC. So, Democrat-run cities and states can go through the motions to defund their police departments, putting their residents at high risk, but the federal government can’t defund in the same manner? So, the funding that the federal government gives states for law enforcement cannot be defunded? This is the hypocrisy of the Democratic Party.
“It is more of the same from him. It’s political, it is gratuitous. And it’s illegal. But it is another attempt to kill New York City,” Cuomo said.
“President Ford said drop dead. President Trump has been actively trying to kill New York City since he’s been elected,” he said. This is a blatant lie that no one in the Fake News industry will call him out on.
In highly personal and insulting language, Cuomo speculated that Trump wasn’t upset about New York’s soaring murder rate and shootings.
“I think it’s because he is from New York City and New York City rejected him, always,” Cuomo said. “He was dismissed as a clown in New York City, those who know him best, like him least.”
Cuomo jeered: “He was disrespected in New York City. Nobody took him seriously and he was just a tabloid cartoon.”
This from a man whose bad decisions helped needlessly kill thousands of elderly people in nursing homes. Trump gave New York everything they needed to combat the Chinese virus pandemic and then some. But those people couldn’t survive the incompetence of their own governor.
Earlier Thursday Trump tweeted out about Cuomo’s negligence.
Referring to a claim in Trump’s niece Mary Trump’s recent book, Cuomo said, “his sister, a former federal judge, is disgraced by him.”
Cuomo himself wrote a new book, where he accepts no blame for how he handled the virus pandemic, so he shouldn’t be talking about what’s said in books by people who have an ax to grind.
The governor additionally said Trump’s “negligence” is why New York state suffered the highest CV-19 death rate. Cuomo’s critics blame his Health Department’s mandate that did not allow nursing homes to turn away CV-19-infected patients, potentially resulting in at the least 6,500 deaths.
By the end of his rant, when his machismo attitude began to dwindle, and he realized how petty he sounded, and how he pretty much just threatened the president of the United States, he tried to walk it back.
“My comment about the president and bodyguards in New York City, all I’m saying is that he is persona non grata in New York City. And I think he knows that. And he’ll never come back to New York, because New Yorkers will never forget how gratuitously mean he has been to New Yorkers and how many times he’s tried to kill the city that gave him his start and birthed him. That’s what I meant about the bodyguards.”
Notice that the governor never provides an ounce of evidence to support any of the attacks he makes on Trump.
Trump called for CNN to fire Cuomo’s little brother Chris Cuomo, earlier Wednesday, because of a tape that was leaked where he says he was questioned about sexual misconduct. “Fredo must go!” Trump wrote, using an insulting reference from “The Godfather.”
In the meantime, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio was mentioned two times by name in Trump’s order, so he had press secretary Bill Neidhardt respond.
“As much as Donald Trump wants New York City to drop dead, we will never let this stand,” Neidhardt tweeted. “This has nothing to do with ‘law and order.’ This is a racist campaign stunt out of the Oval Office to attack millions of people of color.” Can you believe that nonsense?
Notice the “drop dead” reference? This shows the Democrats in New York all receive the same talking points. Trump has done a lot for the state of New York, and he never gets credit or any type of recognition, though Andrew Cuomo forgets that we have this thing called YouTube where there are videos of him praising the president for everything he did for New York to combat the virus. This is why it was so Orwellian when the governor started accusing Trump of doing nothing for New York or other states.
De Blasio had nothing to say, which is, in itself, a miracle.
