The Lawyer for one of the 4 former Minneapolis cops, who was charged in the death of George Floyd, is arguing that his client Thomas Lane ought to be cleared, because, he says, Floyd overdosed on fentanyl while resisting arrest.
Before people go nuts on this, we have now seen the video, and Floyd did resist arrest pretty much from the very beginning of the encounter. His friend in the passenger side of the vehicle said, “Stop resisting.” For the Soros-funded freaks at MediaMatters, I’m not saying former Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin didn’t cause Floyd’s death by having his knee on Floyd’s neck.
Earl Gray filed on Monday where he argued that the disappearance of a white spot on Floyd’s tongue in the body camera video looks like “2 milligrams of fentanyl, a lethal dose.”
“All he had to do is sit in the police car, like every other defendant who is initially arrested. While attempting to avoid his arrest, all by himself, Mr. Floyd overdosed on Fentanyl,” the court documents read. “Given his intoxication level, breathing would have been difficult at best. Mr. Floyd’s intentional failure to obey commands, coupled with his overdosing, contributed to his own death.”
The autopsy report determined that fentanyl and methamphetamine were found in Floyd’s system.
Floyd was killed while in police custody in Minneapolis on May 25 after an officer, who was recorded by a bystander taking video, knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes. Three other cops were on the scene, two initially arrived, and two more came as backup. Witnesses filmed pretty much the whole thing, and, together with Floyd, pleaded for the police to let Floyd breathe as he was on the ground. In the end, Floyd eventually lost consciousness, and he was later pronounced dead at the Hennepin County Medical Center.
The medical examiner ruled the manner of death a homicide, but we don’t know if that ruling was politically charged, as the city erupted in protests and violence. An autopsy report said that the drugs in Floyd’s system, on top of underlying health issues, contributed to his death, meaning, the officer’s knee on Floyd’s neck killed him, but may not have absent the other issues.
All 4 officers were fired after Floyd’s death.

Gray previously filed two bodycam videos as evidence to have the charges against his client thrown out. Lane and Kueng, rookie officers at the time, had been the first to arrive at the Cup Foods convenience store after a complaint was called in about Floyd allegedly attempting to pass off a counterfeit $20 bill.
