Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the fourth biggest bullschtein artist in the Biden administration after President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and White House mouthpiece Jen Psaki, made an appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday. Host Margaret Brennan said, “NATO has said none of its thirty members are willing to set up a no-fly zone. President Biden has been very clear. He has no interest in that or combat troops. But what more can the United States do here? If, for instance, the Polish government, a NATO member, wants to send fighter jets, does that get a green light from the US? Or you were afraid that that will escalate tension?”
Blinken replied, “No, that, that gets a green light.”
“In fact, we’re talking with our Polish friends right now about what we might be able to do to back fill their needs if, in fact, they choose to provide these fighter jets to the Ukrainians,” he said. He went on to say that the Biden administration was in “very active discussions” with Ukraine.
“I’ve been in Europe for the last couple of days working closely as always with our allies and partners at NATO, the European Union, the G7 countries, and all of us together are continuing to take steps to increase the pressure on Russia through additional sanctions, all of which are very actively under discussion and will be implemented in the coming days, as well as taking further steps to give the Ukrainians what they need to defend themselves against the Russian aggression,” Blinken added.
The secretary of state said that the “impact of the sanctions is already devastating,” pointing out that Russia’s stock market has been hit, and that “we’re seeing a recession set in Russia. Consumers aren’t able to buy basic products because companies are fleeing Russia, so it’s having a big impact,” he stated.
But it’s not having an impact on the invasion of Ukraine, which is the entire point of the sanctions.
“But at the same time, we continue to see President Putin doubling down and digging in on this aggression against Ukraine. That’s continuing. I think we have to be prepared. Unfortunately, tragically, for this to go on for some time.”
The Biden administration is “evaluating the capabilities it could provide to provide jets to Poland,” if it did transfer planes to Ukraine, a White House spokesperson told CBS News.
Also on Sunday’s Face the Nation, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova, said she hopes these planes arrive “as soon as possible.”
“We are working with our American, especially, friends and allies on the steady supply of all of the ammunition and anti-air anti-tank and planes to be able to effectively defend our country,” she added.
But there’s just one problem. The Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland came out and said that Blinken’s statement about Poland providing fighter jets was fake news only hours before the secretary of state went on Face the Nation. And he ran with the lie, anyway.
The Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland said, “Poland won’t send its fighter jets to #Ukraine as well as allow to use its airports. We significantly help in many other areas.”
Why would Antony Blinken lie like that?
