On Thursday, the Biden administration took action against Russia by leveling sanctions and declaring a “national emergency” in response to their alleged involvement in the SolarWinds cyberattack and interference in the 2020 presidential election.
Still nothing on China’s involvement in hacking the 2020 election, and I wouldn’t hold my breath.
In a statement released by the White House, the Biden administration announced the Treasury Department had sanctioned 32 entities and individuals that include government officials and members of their intelligence agencies as well as six Russian tech companies for their involvement in attempting to influence the 2020 election as well as for “other acts of disinformation and interference.”
Again, absolutely nothing on China the real meddler in the 2020 election, but because it is perceived to have helped the Democrats we won’t even hear crickets.
A directive was also issued by Treasury that prohibits US financial institutions from having anything to do in the primary market for new debt that has been issued by the Russian Central Bank, their National Wealth Fund, or its Ministry of Finance. They have been canceled.
The directive that restricts US investors from buying ruble-denominated Russian government debt has “long been seen as the ‘nuclear option’ in financial markets, where the bonds, known as OFZs, have been a popular investment,” according to Bloomberg News.
Bloomberg added that foreigners currently hold roughly 20% of that debt, worth about $37 billion.
“This directive provides authority for the U.S. government to expand sovereign debt sanctions on Russia as appropriate,” the news release stated.
On top of the sanctions, the administration expelled 10 Russian diplomats from their diplomatic mission in Washington, DC.
Joe Biden notified Congress in a letter that he issued “an Executive Order declaring a national emergency with respect to the unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States posed by specified harmful foreign activities of the Government of the Russian Federation.”
All of this happened just days after Biden’s phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as tensions are rising in Eastern Europe as Russian forces are again building up near the Ukrainian border.
“The President signed this sweeping new authority to confront Russia’s continued and growing malign behavior,” Treasury Secretary Janet L. Yellen said in a statement. “Treasury is leveraging this new authority to impose costs on the Russian government for its unacceptable conduct, including by limiting Russia’s ability to finance its activities and by targeting Russia’s malicious and disruptive cyber capabilities.”
Included in the actions against Russia, the US formally named the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service as the responsible party of the cyber attack on SolarWinds software when malicious code was added to a software update back as early as March 2020. The software is popular with many companies and government agencies.
Not long after the discovery of the hack back in December, US intelligence officials raised suspicions of Russia’s involvement. Former Homeland Security adviser to President Donald Trump, Tom Bossert, had warned that Russia could have “persistent access” to hacked US government networks for years to come with the power to “destroy or alter data,” as a result of the hack.
Russia, China, and Iran are the three main culprits for foreign interference in the 2020 election.
Many believe Biden is in the back pocket of the Communist Chinese Party where he made millions off of his son Hunter’s business endeavors with Chinese government-owned companies, many of which are very questionable and some deemed criminal. Could this be why the Biden administration will do nothing to China?

Iran also got involved in hacking the election, but for some crazy lunatic reason, the Democrats want the terror state to have nuclear weapons. We know this because they complained so loudly when Trump pulled the US out of the Iran nuclear deal and Biden said he will get us back in. That deal, which was never signed by either side so it is not legally binding, literally says in the appendix area that Iran may have nuclear weapons after 15-years. The sunset provisions in the deal mean that restrictions on Iran’s uranium-enrichment and plutonium reprocessing go away after 15 years, and Iran will be free to expand its nuclear program to an industrial scale. They may even use advanced centrifuges that ultimately would allow the terror regime to produce enough weapons-grade uranium for a nuclear weapon in a matter of weeks.
