Biden Says Not One Military Leader Advised Him To Keep Troops in Afghanistan Even Though Numerous Reports Say Otherwise

President Joe Biden is now asserting that his top military brass never advised him to keep a contingent of US troops in Afghanistan, despite numerous reports claiming the contrary. Yeah, and I’m Mary, Queen of Scots.

We now have thousands of American citizens trapped inside a living hell where Islamic terrorists have taken control of the entire country over a weekend.

On Wednesday, during an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, the known softball question thrower for Democrats, Biden repeatedly denied stories that he ignored advice from his top military advisers to keep around some level of military presence in the country. As irritating as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin are, I cannot believe they didn’t advise Biden to keep a contingency of troops there until the American civilians and our Afghan allies were gotten out safely. If Biden is telling the truth then both should resign immediately.

Here’s the transcript of the significant part of the interview:

STEPHANOPOULOS: But your top military advisers warned against withdrawing on this timeline. They wanted you to keep about 2,500 troops.

BIDEN: No, they didn’t. It was split. Tha — that wasn’t true. That wasn’t true.

STEPHANOPOULOS: They didn’t tell you that they wanted troops to stay?

BIDEN: No. Not at — not in terms of whether we were going to get out in a timeframe all troops. They didn’t argue against that.

STEPHANOPOULOS: So no one told — your military advisers did not tell you, “No, we should just keep 2,500 troops. It’s been a stable situation for the last several years. We can do that. We can continue to do that”?

BIDEN: No. No one said that to me that I can recall.

After the world watched the Taliban forces take over the country, he defended his decision to throw out the Trump administration’s plan for withdrawal for his own plan of total withdrawal without getting Americans out and without taking our equipment with us, a plan which was a total disaster saying that the chaos was inevitable.

Biden’s claims, however, run counter to multiple reports that say otherwise, and now in the aftermath of one of the worst military withdrawals in our nation’s history – and I only say that because I haven’t yet done the research on other past god awful withdrawals – many people are now demanding answers of how the Biden administration got caught so unprepared.

From the Wall Street Journal reporting back in April that Biden overruled his top military people when he ordered the total withdrawal of all US troops from the country:

In contrast to the numerous Trump policies he reversed, he opted to carry out Mr. Trump’s deal with the Taliban instead of trying to renegotiate it. In so doing, he overruled his top military commanders: Gen. Frank McKenzie, the commander of U.S. forces in the Middle East; Gen. Austin Scott Miller, who led NATO forces in Afghanistan; and Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Citing the risks of removing American forces to Afghan security and the U.S. Embassy, they recommended that the U.S. keep 2,500 troops in Afghanistan while stepping up diplomacy to try to cement a peace agreement.

In April, Politico reported that Vice President Kamala Harris had a “key role” in the administration’s withdrawal decision, proving that the entire administration is incompetent.

The two conflicting stories are only the latest strife facing the Biden administration during a rapidly worsening situation in Afghanistan that has picked up criticism and outrage from both sides of the political aisle.

It was expected that Republicans to criticize Biden’s childish and amateurish Afghanistan withdrawal, but this situation is so bad that people in his own party are creating a backlash. And that’s really saying something because the Democrats usually circle the wagon for other Democrats.

The Biden administration is facing bipartisan anger and some are vowing to start investigations into the botched withdrawal calling the situation a “catastrophe” and a “disaster.” I just want to know how long it will take them to figure out a way to blame it all on Donald Trump and Qanon conspiracy theorists.
