“Nostalgia is the intimate refuge of every man and every woman in a world seemingly gone mad.” – Author: John Larkins
It appears the Chicago Public Library has signed up for membership in the Woke Supremacy. On Monday the library announced that it will temporarily censor six Dr. Seuss books from its shelves while it assesses their future at the public library.
My argument here would be that since it’s a Public Library if one person wants the books there then they have to keep them available. If there are crazy people who see racism everywhere they look for it who don’t want to see the books there then they shouldn’t look for them. This is yet again a government-gone-woke story where the government workers only listen to the crazy woke jobs who won’t stop until all of America stops having a good time. What about the other side? The wokety woke wokes never give a damn about how they feel and they pay taxes to keep the Public Library around as well.
On Monday, a wokesman for the library told the Chicago Tribune that the six children’s classics that were banned for racism, that are in no way no how racist, are currently checked out, and that when they are returned they will no longer be made available because some idiot with a chip on their shoulder wants to show the world how woke they are.
“It is important to recognize that what society understands to be relevant and/or common knowledge changes over time, and so too does the Library and the needs of the communities it serves,” the library wokesman Patrick Malloy told the outlet.
Malloy told the Tribune that staffers compel readers of all ages who visit the wokebrary to “engage critically” with library materials, but those that “become dated or that foster inaccurate, culturally harmful stereotypes” (the latter of that insane statement probably makes up about 99 44/100% of his intentions) are yanked from the shelves to make room for more current and “comprehensive” books (probably like “Tommy Has Two Mommies” or “The GayBC’s”).
The way to end this is for people to stop using that Public Library. If nobody shows up then there is no reason to keep the place open. But the problem we have in 2021 is that there are enough stupid people out there who agree with this lunacy and who will use that library to be able to check out books that are offensive to conservatives.
The six Dr. Seuss books the communists banned are “If I Ran the Zoo,” “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street,” “McElligot’s Pool,” “On Beyond Zebra!,” “Scrambled Eggs Super!” and “The Cat’s Quizzer.’’
Forget the fact that Dr. Seuss in real life was an activist liberal who took racism very seriously. He wrote an entire shelf of anti-racism books, but you can’t the Woke anything. They’re probably of the same ilk as the people who tore down statues of abolitionists over the summer and they were just too ignorant to know the difference.
“CPL is constantly reviewing our collections to ensure that the materials we circulate are responsive to the communities we serve,” Malloy’s statement said. “Staff will continue to evaluate all Library resources and consider bias, prejudice, and racism when making decisions about our programming, services, and recommendations, in addition to our collections.”
The New York Public Wokebrary, meanwhile, has said it will keep the books on its shelves until they’re no longer in “acceptable condition.” Be on the lookout for hordes of Wokers descending upon the wokebrary to make sure the books are no longer in acceptable condition. And I guarantee not a single one of the hoodlums will be prosecuted.
The Brooklyn Public Wokebrary mirrored that sentiment, keeping the books in circulation, while those who work at the Queens Public Library to their credit said last week they’re considering whether to move the titles to its reference section stating that the library stands “firmly against censorship.”
The Denver Public Library took the Queens NY approach saying it also will not succumb to the lunacy of the Left by pulling the six books by Dr. Seuss. Good for them.
Lark Grey Dimond-Cates was not a character in a Dr. Suess book but was his stepdaughter who told the New York Post that “There wasn’t a racist bone in his body,” when speaking of her stepdad. Though she agreed that for now the books should be pulled yet hopes that someday they maybe go back into print.
“I think this is a world that right now is in pain, and we’ve all got to be very gentle and thoughtful and kind with each other,” she said.
