Thursday night, a statue of the first president of the United States, George Washington, was toppled and then wrapped in a burning American flag by protesters in Portland, Oregon.
This is what these people think of your country.
From KOIN 6:
Thursday marked the 21st day of protests in Portland sparked by the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police. Two groups — Rose City Justice and Lavender Caucus — hosted a sit-in rally at Jefferson High School in the evening where community members shared their experiences with racism to a crowd of a few hundred. The group did not hold a march.
A separate group of about 20 people met at NE Sandy Boulevard and NE 57th Avenue around 10 p.m. at the site of a large bronze statue of George Washington. Some wrapped the statue’s head in an American flag and lit the flag on fire. Their numbers grew over the next hour until there were enough people to pull the statue to the ground. They quickly scattered. A KOIN 6 News crew found the statue face down and covered in graffiti. Portland police arrived a short time later.
Photos and video taken of the statue’s toppling was shared on social media by citizen journalist Garrison Davis.

The monument was covered throughout by spray paint vandalism, including the base of the monument, with phrases like: “Murder,” “Big Floyd,” “1619,” “F*** Cops,” “BLM,” “You’re on Native Land,” and “White Fragility.”

On Sunday, a statue of Thomas Jefferson, our third president and author of the Declaration of Independence, was defaced and knocked down outside a Portland high school.
According to pictures obtained by Oregon Live show the base of the monument was spray-painted in black with “slave owner” and “George Floyd.”

The ignorance of these mobs is staggering. Jefferson inherited his slaves. He didn’t purchase them. He tried to free them, but Virginia law forbid him to do it. Unlike today, in his time, you couldn’t just flout the law. He couldn’t say, “Screw that, I’m going to free them anyway.” He would have met the end of a rope.
Another thing the mob doesn’t know is that the first bill Jefferson ever proposed as an elected official was to end the African slave trade. He was one of the first statesmen to take some form of action against slavery.
In 1778 Jefferson proposed a Virginia bill that would prohibit the importation of people from Africa who were enslaved. That was the first step in stopping the hemorrhaging of slavery into the country.
In 1784 he proposed a ban on slavery in the Northwest Territory, which were new lands given up by the British in 1783.
“You know that nobody wishes more ardently to see an abolition not only of the trade but of the condition of slavery: and certainly nobody will be more willing to encounter every sacrifice for that object.” – Thomas Jefferson to Brissot de Warville, February 11, 1788.
The statue, which was located in front of Jefferson High School, was knocked down following a protest against police brutality organized by Rose City Justice.
“There’s an interesting piece of history up here… Mr. Thomas is all beside himself,” one protester said of the statue being toppled.
“We’re taking this city back,” the organizer added. “One school at a time. One racist statue at a time.”
These Founding men, flawed as they were, created the freest country ever known, that the rioters have enjoyed their whole lives. No other place on earth could someone rise from nothing and make a life for themselves.
Logic and reason don’t matter to these people. They are Marxists, and even though you and I are not involved in a fighting war, they are, and you and I are their enemies. Like all Marxist revolutions, they are trying to remove the nation’s iconery, the symbols that remind us of our Founding and everything we stand for. Marxists throughout history have done this, and it’s not for our effect, but for our children and grandchildren.
I was thinking the other day that my soon-to-be 18-year-old son will never know what life was like living without the Internet, without cell phones and digital movies, iPads and Snapchat and YouTube, and debit cards, etc.
Try grandchildren never knowing who George Washington was, or Thomas Jefferson. Imagine they never learn about how incredible the Constitution was that we used to live under, and how it empowered everyone, until it was corrupted by bad politicians.
Imagine you grandchildren never understanding how great it was to be an American. Folks, that’s what they’re trying to achieve. They want to remove from society that which people like you and I are fighting to preserve. The Founding principle written into the Preamble to the Constitution that we are ever trying to “form a more-perfect union” means that even though we have the greatest system ever devised by mankind, we strive to always find ways of making it better for everyone. What the Marxists are doing is wiping that out and making things better for them, and screw the rest of us.
The toppling of the Washington statue comes as more and more historical monuments throughout the country have been targeted within the wake of protests and the violent chaos sparked by the death of George Floyd, a black man who died in police custody in Minneapolis on Memorial Day, a city run by Democrats in a state run by Democrats.
