A Goodyear worker said the company has created a new policy that has some people complaining that it is discriminatory.
A picture going around on social media reveals a slide that was presented during a diversity training class defining what is acceptable and what isn’t acceptable as part of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.‘s zero-tolerance policy.
Under the acceptable side is, Black Lives Matter (BLM), Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride.
Notice that the policy is against support for Donald Trump, but doesn’t ban Democrat, or more specifically, Joe Biden attire.
Do the dunces at Goodyear corporate not understand that Black Lives Matter is a political organization, supported by the Democratic Party? Do they not know that the transgender movement is political and the Democrats support them? Are they really that stupid?
Do they also not realize that even Trump haters might get annoyed that Goodyear does not support police?
The employee who took the picture of the slide revealed it was presented at the Topeka plant by an area manager, and said that the slide originated from its corporate office in Akron, Ohio.
This is fine. It’s America, and this is a business, and the corporate drones have the right to make up any policy they want. If they want to insult half the country who support President Donald Trump, then they should expect that Trump supporters who hear about it will never purchase another Goodyear tire as long as they own a vehicle.
“If someone wants to wear a BLM shirt in here, then cool. I’m not going to get offended about it. But at the same time, if someone’s not going to be able to wear something that is politically based, even in the farthest stretch of the imagination, that’s discriminatory,” said a worker, who spoke under the condition of anonymity because of fears they could lose their job or have the living hell beaten out of them by BLM supporters. “If we’re talking about equality, then it needs to be equality. If not, it’s discrimination.”
Goodyear released the following statement:
“Goodyear is committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace where all of our associates can do their best in a spirit of teamwork. As part of this commitment, we do allow our associates to express their support on racial injustice and other equity issues but ask that they refrain from workplace expressions, verbal or otherwise, in support of political campaigning for any candidate or political party as well as other similar forms of advocacy that fall outside the scope of equity issues.”
The company has since responded to the claims, stating that this was a mistake.
Here’s what they Tweeted on Wednesday morning:
Yesterday, Goodyear became the focus of a conversation that created some misconceptions about our policies and our company. Goodyear has always wholeheartedly supported both equality and law enforcement and will continue to do so. pic.twitter.com/oO6jUg2rTR
