Bill Maher, the liberal host of “Real Time with Bill Maher,” over the past couple of months came to an understanding about the COVID-19 pandemic and all the garbage that came with it. I refer to him as a liberal because he is not a leftist. Maher is not a leftist lunatic that cannot be reasoned with. He’s just a smart aleck Hollywood liberal that has an audience ready to support and cheer anything he says at a second’s notice, but at the same time he is not afraid to speak his mind when it goes against his side of the political aisle. There are times he is spot on with a commonsense understanding of some issues. One being the existential threat from Islamic Fundamentalism. In fact, he was so dead one right about the Muslim terrorists that it was difficult to understand how he could be so right on that yet so wrong on most other things. But that’s Bill Maher.
The TV host recently slammed the mainstream news media for scaring the sh*t out of people over COVID.
Back in September 2021, on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Maher cited a survey in the New York Times saying, “The question was, ‘What do you think the chances are that you would have to go to the hospital if you got COVID?’ And Democrats thought that was, way higher than Republicans,” Maher said. “The answer is between 1 percent and 5 percent.”
Maher then pointed out that 41% of Democrats thought the chance of going to the hospital was over 50% and that 28% believed it was between 20 and 49% of COVID patients ended up having to go to the hospital.
“Seventy percent of Democrats thought it was way, way, way higher than it really was,” Maher added. “Liberal media has to take a little responsibility for that. For scaring the sh*t out of people.”
Now, more recently, Maher slammed people on the left who “politicized” ivermectin, an antiparasitic drug that also reduces inflammation. I personally believe the Left is responsible for almost a million American COVID deaths by spreading disinformation and misinformation about using ivermectin as a treatment for COVID-19. I know it works firsthand because I caught delta COVID at the end of November 2021 and I thought I was going to die. Six hours after my second dose of ivermectin, my symptoms went away completely.
Maher gave both barrels to the “pain in the a*s blue states” for their harsh pandemic restrictions and mitigations while saying that red states that don’t have such draconian measures are a “joy,” declaring that Democrat pandemic rules are from a “mindless bureaucracy.”
Maher recently took to task the medical industry about all the things it got wrong since the beginning of the pandemic in early 2020. Quite frankly, I can’t think of a thing it got right of the major issues for topics of discussion about COVID. And getting everything wrong has cost lives and cost the rest of us our freedoms, causing Maher to say that we should “focus on helping the vulnerable stay safe and let the rest of us get back to living normal lives.”
There is very little I agree politically with Bill Maher, but I am not going to skewer him for not talking about it early on. Yes, conservatives have been on the right side of this from the very beginning and now we are seeing liberals like Maher coming to their senses, maybe a little late, but they are here. We need their voices to convince their leaders that enough is enough.
WATCH: (WARNING: Foul Language)
Maher rightfully condemned the limitations that have been placed on our children, who have a very low chance of dying from COVID as “unnecessary and horrible.” He added, “There’s always going to be another variant.” And that’s what Democrats appear to have always hoped for so that once the pandemic starts winding down, a new variant comes along and they feel it justifies starting all the lockdowns and mask mandates all over again.
I think the Democrats overplayed their hand with their hyping up of omicron, because the whole world knew before the tyrants in government could get a handle on how to hype it that the new variant was much more mild than delta, and that for most people it would feel like a common cold. Yet we had government types trying to tell us that Omicron was as dangerous as delta and more so because it was highly transmittable. And it was bullschtein.
Maher mentioned a study that discovered that lockdowns “had little to no effect on COVID-19 mortality” and “imposed enormous economic and social costs.” He scoffed, “Okay, that’s kind of a big one to get wrong.”
The HBO host pointed out how President Biden told Americans that they were not going to get COVID if they got vaccinated, saying “Well, I already knew that was wrong then, and now we all do.”
He talked about the dangers of censorship by pointing out that former CDC director and virologist Robert Redfield believes that the COVID-19 virus originated in a lab and that our intelligence community now agrees that it may have, “But for months on social media, it was banned to even discuss it.” Now he knows how conservatives feel.
“Look, I’m not saying the medical establishment isn’t trying to figure sh*t out, or that they’re corrupt, although there is some of that,” Maher said.
“But how about just wrong? Wrong a lot. Wrong about HIV, wrong about lockdowns, wrong about kids, wrong about how you couldn’t get it if you were vaccinated,” he continued.
I could go on. Wrong about unvaccinated making vaccinated people sick with COVID. Wrong about vaccine efficacy. Wrong about masks stopping the spread of the virus. Wrong about PCR tests. Wrong about gain of function research. Our so-called medical experts have been wrong on just about every facet of the virus. They destroyed our economy by being wrong.
He then went on about how wrong leftists got “the science” over the years.
“I’m just asking, how much wrong do you get to be while still holding the default setting for people who represent the science? Eat eggs, then don’t, then do,” Maher said. “Take aspirin, then don’t, then do. The food pyramid, really? Bread and milk every day? Fifteen years ago, they were recommending trans fats. Now, they’re illegal, just like almost a hundred prescription drugs, which were once called ‘safe and effective’ and then yanked off the market because they were not.”
Then he got into the cancer in our society that is censorship. “We’ve had this problem in medicine for a long time,” Maher said. “The same people who, in private care, always say, get a second opinion, want to allow only one in the public debate.” That’s exactly right. Leftists have always been authoritarians and now they no longer wish to debate anything because they think they are right about everything and they don’t want opposing viewpoints that could prove them wrong.
“But plainly, the medical-industrial complex has not earned the right to claim monopoly status on information about this virus or medicine in general,” Maher concluded. “Yes, free speech has allowed people to hear misinformation sometimes. And a lot of it was yours.”
Way to go, Bill Maher! Now, if we can just get him to be reasonable on 98% of the other things he talks about.
