Health Expert Dr. Ashish Jha Telling Government and Schools Omicron Should Not Be Measured by Case Numbers But By Hospitalizations and Death

On Sunday, Dr. Ashish Jha, a known health expert, said that public health officials should no longer use COVID-19 case infection rate data as the key metric by which the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic is measured.

As dean of the Brown University School of Public Health and a former health expert at Harvard University, Jha told ABC News’ “This Week” that the Omicron variant has changed the game.

What the Democrats and the mainstream news media need to learn is that you don’t measure a pandemic by the number of cases, but by the rate of hospitalizations and deaths.

Dr. Jha said that using case data to ascertain how severe a pandemic is no longer a reliable method because Omicron is a much milder variant even though its transmission rate is high.

“We have to do a shift. Look, for two years, infections always preceded hospitalizations, which preceded deaths. So you could look at infections and know what was coming. Even through the Delta wave that was true because it was largely unvaccinated people who were getting infected,” Jha said.

“Omicron changes that. This is the shift we’ve been waiting for in many ways where we’re moving to a phase where if you’re vaccinated and particularly if you’re boosted, you might get an infection. It might be a couple of days of not feeling so great, but you’re going to bounce back. That’s very different than what we have seen in the past,” he continued. “So, I no longer think infections generally should be the major metric.”

“Obviously, we can continue to track infections among unvaccinated people because those people will end up in the hospital at the same rate, but we really have to focus on hospitalizations and deaths now,” Jha said.

Health officials in the US have a different school of logic. They want to scare the living hell out of everyone, especially people who vote, so they have raised alarms over the Omicron variant. Fear is what tyrants use to get people to do as they say. And fear of COVID was used to get people to want to vote by mail because that seems to be the easiest way for Democrats to cheat in elections. They convinced people who stand in line every week at the grocery store that it was too dangerous to stand in line to vote.

The Democrats want to lock you down, mask you, booster you, and frighten you into submission for any other mitigation policies they come up with that have absolutely nothing to do with science.

Omicron infections are skyrocketing, but people are not being admitted to hospitals at alarming rates and are not dying from it. That’s the important part of a pandemic and that’s what is scaring the Democrats. When variants come out as mild as Omicron, you no longer have a pandemic. Pandemics aren’t measured by the case numbers, but by hospitalizations and deaths.

Without a pandemic, there is no longer a need for emergency powers, and since tyrants usually do not voluntarily give up their powers, we may have a problem on our hands once enough Americans realize that the pandemic is over yet the government is still trying to control their lives.

So far, Democrats are continuing to use case numbers for the Omicron variant so that they can justify implementing lockdowns, mask mandates, vaccine mandates, and other ways to take away your freedoms. It’s funny because red states aren’t doing any of that and their people are doing just fine.

On “Fox News Sunday,” Jha criticized schools that are going back to virtual learning when students go back to school after the holiday break.

“This really shouldn’t even be on the table, and I’m disappointed to see this is happening,” he said. “Schools should be absolutely the last place to close and the first place to open.”

Jha said that because it’s what the science tells us. Democrats love to virtue signal the rest of us about following the science but anyone who has been paying attention throughout the COVID-19 pandemic knows that they are blatantly not following the science in most cases.
