On Friday, House Republicans elected New York Republican Representative Elise Stefanik as GOP conference chair.
As he was leaving the GOP meeting, Representative Darrell Issa (R-CA), who voted for Stefanik, said of the meeting, “it’s a very united conference.”
After the meeting, Stefanik released a statement saying that House Republicans are “united in our focus to fight on behalf of the American people to save our country from the radical socialist Democrat agenda of President Biden and Nancy Pelosi.”
Wyoming Republican Representative Liz Cheney was ousted as the conference chair by way of a voice vote at a GOP conference meeting this week.
On Thursday, Representative Chip Roy (R-TX) said he would raise a challenge to Stefanik during the GOP conference meeting.
However, both former President Donald Trump and House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy already endorsed Stefanik for the position ahead of Friday’s vote. Trump even released a statement critical of Roy on Thursday.
I don’t know Roy and I like Stefanik for her boldness in standing up to the Democrats who attacked Trump with phony articles of impeachment. Roy has a 100% perfect Liberty Score from Conservative Review while Stefanik has a 36% score. Normally, I would go with the member who has the higher score, but these aren’t normal times.
Trump has great instincts for how things work and how things should work. Voting straight party line isn’t resume-making material for beating back the socialist onslaught happening to our country right now by radical Marxist Democrats. While Roy voted straight conservative ideology, and I commend him for doing so, he didn’t get into the fight to save the president, expose how phony the Democrats were in their attacks on the president, or even call them out on their socialist agenda. Those votes mean nothing with a Democrat majority that votes in lockstep.
Stefanik thanked Trump and her constituents who voted for her in a speech after the vote where she said she is going to “focus is on unity.” And here’s the thing. Liz Cheney would say unity is everyone agreeing with her establishment RINO beliefs that she calls “principles,” and everyone else calls caving.
Stefanik understands that we are at war for the survival of our republic. There is no room to try to get along with Democrats as they certainly do not want to get along with Republicans. The days of the RINO are coming to an end. We need fighters in leadership positions, not people who cave to Democrats just to get along.
“He is a critical part of our Republican team,” Stefanik said of Trump.
GOP lawmakers pointed out that Cheney became a distraction as conference chair by constantly going off on Trump and repeating the Democrat lie by referring to Trump’s arguments about massive election fraud in the 2020 presidential election as the “Big Lie.” That, on top of siding with the radical lying Democrats by voting to impeach Trump for doing nothing wrong, was the reason she lost her leadership position. As a RINO she thought she would gain some respect for showing a “principled” stance by joining in with Democrats who made up accusations about Trump. For goodness’ sake, she voted to begin the process of removing a president who was of her own party.
Representative Mike Gallagher (R-WI) said in a statement of House Democrats under Nancy Pelosi being “ruthless in advancing their radical progressive agenda, and Representative Cheney can no longer unify the House Republican conference in opposition to that agenda,” Republican Wisconsin Rep. Mike Gallagher said in a statement. “We need to take back the House in 2022 and permanently retire Pelosi.”
Representative Glenn Grothman (R-WI) said he has held disdain for Cheney that has lasted for years, and that it was time for her to go. “I didn’t want her here in this position two years ago, much less now,” he told FOX 11.

Representative Andy Harris (R-MD) said Cheney “repeatedly found herself in the minority of her conference on key issues and served as a distraction, rather than a unifying figure in our leadership.” That’s because she’s a RINO and the party, like it or not, is now a Trump Republican Party.
