On Tuesday, the Twitter account for Vice President Kamala Harris posted a now-deleted tweet that the United States is supporting Ukraine “in defense of the NATO alliance.” The problem with that is Ukraine isn’t a member of NATO. Somebody should have told her that. What a dope!
“When I was in Poland, I met with US and Polish service members, thanking them for standing with our NATO allies for freedom, peace, and security,” a tweet from the @KamalaHarris account stated. “The United States stands firmly with the Ukrainian people in defense of the NATO alliance.” Don’t look for it, it’s no longer there.
The only good outcome from this would be if possibility that Putin had a brain aneurism when he heard about it.
The messaging of that deleted tweet is not the first time the vice president has said it. While speaking to House Democrats over the weekend at the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) winter meeting in Washington, DC, Harris said, “Russia’s invasion threatens not just Ukraine’s democracy, it threatens democracy and security across Europe,” Harris said. “So I will say what I know we all say, and I will say over and over again: The United States stands firmly with the Ukrainian people in defense of the NATO alliance.”
No matter how she got there, she is the Vice President of the United States and you would think there would be at least one person on her staff, or in the entire Biden administration, who would have alerted her so that she shouldn’t make such a mistake during a speech because the world notices.
This White House even cheated on the transcript of the event. They added the word “and” to make it seem like she said the United States support Ukraine and defends the NATO alliance.
People heard her say it. It was recorded as everything is when the Vice President gives a speech. This serves us to better understand the OCD weakness of this administration, that they believe they have to be perfect in everything they do, but worse, they believe covering up a mistake made during a speech will somehow negate the fact that Harris said what she said and everything will be perfect. Give it a week and Fox News’ Peter Doocy will ask White House mouthpiece Jen Psaki why the White House changed the transcript and, mark my words, Psaki will respond by saying either the vice president said the word “and,” or she meant to say it and so it should be added into the transcript.
Just imagine what the entire media would do if Mike Pence had said such a thing.
A spokesperson from Harris’ office said that the US Vice President’s Twitter account is controlled by the DNC.
“The ‘and’ was omitted by accident, so we took it down and reposted with the correct remarks,” the DNC said in a statement.
How many “accidents” does Harris get before people start questioning her cognitive abilities because it wasn’t just a tweet that omitted the “and,” she also said it during a speech.
Here is the VP’s do-over:
“When I was in Poland, I met with U.S. and Polish service members, thanking them for standing with our NATO allies for freedom, peace, and security. The United States stands firmly with the Ukrainian people and in defense of the NATO alliance.”

NATO has no role in the Russian invasion of Ukraine because Ukraine is not a part of the alliance. But Harris’ messaging could arguably be sending out the wrong message to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has an almost psychopathic determination to keep Ukraine from joining NATO.
Russian officials already think that Ukraine is a shoo-in for membership, and they think of NATO’s alliance with the United States as their #1 security problem, especially since NATO has been expanding its membership to include former Soviet bloc states.
Does Harris not know that Putin drew a red line on Ukraine becoming a member of NATO? In fact, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently made an announcement that as one of the conditions of the Russian military calling a truce, he would officially give up the right to join NATO.
Putin doesn’t want Ukraine to become a NATO member because his taking Crimea in 2014 could become an issue, and the LPR and DPR regions in southeastern Ukraine who claim to be independent states recognized by Putin could also be resolved by NATO.
Maybe the vice president should practice her speeches before giving them?
