On Thursday, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) endorsed Harriet Hageman for the at-large seat for Wyoming in the US House of Representatives. Hageman is the pro-Trump primary challenger to Representative Liz Cheney (RINO-WY).
“The most successful Representatives in Congress focus on the needs of their constituents, and throughout her career, Harriet has championed America’s natural resources and helped the people of Wyoming reject burdensome and onerous government overreach,” the GOP minority leader said in his statement.
Hageman also released her own statement that strongly criticized Cheney for participating in the congressional committee investigating the January 6 riot at the US Capitol.
“Liz Cheney has completely lost the ability to do her job of representing Wyoming as our only member of the House of Representatives. The Democrats in Washington, D.C. only see her as a temporary but useful tool to achieve their partisan goals, and the Republicans want nothing to do with her,” Hageman said.
“It is her responsibility to fight for Wyoming and represent our values, and she has completely abandoned that. Wyoming deserves a congresswoman who will combat the disastrous Biden administration and hold them accountable for their policies,” she added.
“Cheney is doing nothing to help us, she is actively damaging the Republican Party — both in Wyoming and nationally — and it’s time for her to go,” Hageman concluded.
Cheney has an axe to grind against former President Donald Trump, and she continues to wrongfully accuse him of being responsible for the riot that took place at the Capitol on January 6. She has outright lied about Trump shirking responsibilities to protect the Capitol that were never his in the first place. On top of that, somehow, Cheney missed the fact that the former president offered thousands of National Guard troops to protect the Capitol and Nancy Pelosi turned down every offer. Why doesn’t the committee question Pelosi’s role?
House Republicans removed Cheney from a leadership position and the Wyoming Republican Party censured Cheney in January 2021 for her vote to impeach President Trump.
A spokesperson for Cheney gave a brief response to McCarthy’s endorsement of Hageman.
“Wow, she must be really desperate,” said Jeremy Adler.
That’s hilarious because last month Hageman had a SmackDown victory over Cheney in a Wyoming GOP state straw poll.
Cheney reported raising $2 million in a recent financial filing, despite the fact that she is extremely unpopular for joining the January 6 Soviet Politburo-style committee. Rumors have run that Democrats are donating to Cheney’s campaign.
The primary will be held on August 16, 2022.
