A major funneling entity of federal research money that went to the Chinese lab in Wuhan, China that surrounds current speculation over the origins of the COVID-19 virus is refusing to comply with a request from House Republicans that went out months ago for documentation related to his work with the Wuhan lab. He’s getting away with it because House Democrats refuse to issue a subpoena to compel the requested documents be provided. The Democrats clearly have something to hide.
We reported that Peter Daszak, the president of EcoHealth Alliance, a nonprofit organization, has been under the microscope for several months now after it was discovered that he helped fund the Wuhan Institute of Virology that was doing gain of function research using bats. In fact, Daszak went out of his way to communicate that the Wuhan lab did not have any bats, alive or dead and that the whole idea was a conspiracy theory.
This is a widely circulated conspiracy theory. This piece describes work I'm the lead on & labs I've collaborated w/ for 15 yrs. They DO NOT have live or dead bats in them. There is no evidence anywhere that this happened. It's an error that I hope will be corrected.

Then a video emerged showing that Wuhan lab workers were using bats.
EcoHealth Alliance funneled about $600,000 US taxpayer dollars between 2014 and 2019 to study bat coronaviruses. That $600k came from a grant by the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), a sub-agency for the National Institutes of Health which is run by White House senior medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci.
EcoHealth never went through the review board of the Department of Health and Human Services where the grant could have been turned down. The reason it wasn’t subjected to review is because the sub-agency that awards grants never told the review board. Sounds shady.
Daszak is continuing to disregard a congressional call for information as journalists (the honest ones) and some government investigators (again, the honest ones) continue to try to figure out the capacity at which his work was tied to the Wuhan lab.
GOP lawmakers on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce sent a letter to the Wuhan lab benefactor asking him to hand over documents including, “all letters, emails, and other communications between [EcoHealth] and [the WIV] related to terms of agreements, bat coronaviruses, genome or genetic sequencing, SARS-CoV-2, and/or laboratory safety practices” surrounding key NIH research funding via EchoHealth Alliance to the Wuhan lab as a sub-recipient of a grant.
Read the letter below.
Daszak so far has been less than cooperative, to say the least. An aide with the Energy and Commerce Committee confirmed that he “received no response still from EcoHealth Alliance and Peter Daszak to the April 16th letter from Leaders Rodgers, Guthrie, and Griffith.”
Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) has already publicly said that Daszak is refusing to cooperate with the House GOP’s request made two-and-a-half months ago.
During a House subcommittee hearing last week, Rodgers said, “We have asked Daszak to provide information we know he has that sheds light on the origins of this pandemic.” She added, “But he refuses to cooperate.” It sounds like he has something to hide.
“Dr. Daszak, you received American funds you used to conduct research on bat coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology,” Rodgers said. “You owe it to the American people to be transparent.” But transparency is nowhere to be found when it concerns the coronavirus and Democrats.
Though the subcommittee does have subpoena powers, Daszak isn’t going to be subpoenaed anytime soon, because the Democrats are in the majority and they control the power of issuing them.
Something just isn’t right. You would think Democrats would want to find out the origin of the COVID-19 pandemic virus that they politicized for over a year but not so.
The debate over the origin of the COVID-19 virus has gone straight down party lines. President Donald Trump last year talked about the lab leak theory and because it was he who mentioned it, the cabal of scientific “authorities” rejected the idea wholeheartedly and went with the belief that the virus came about naturally. This, even though there have been reports by doctors around the world who said that there were things found in the virus that do not occur in nature.

Maggie Haberman of the New York Times let the cat out of the bag when she said that the leftists in media didn’t take the lab leak theory seriously only because Donald Trump was the one talking about it. They say he lied so much that they couldn’t take it seriously. Putting aside the fact that the Left saying Trump lied all the time was in fact itself a giant lie, if they want to call themselves journalists then they have to start acting like journalists. In this case, they should have researched the theory regardless of who brought it up, and they all failed.
