On Wednesday, Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr., announced that from now on his office will no longer prosecute many offenses related to prostitution. On top of that, he dismissed convictions and bench warrants for thousands of prostitution-related cases, many of which went back to the 1970s and 1980s.
The morally depraved district attorney who seems to live in an alternate universe said that his office will no longer prosecute crimes for prostitution, loitering for the purpose of prostitution, or prosecute for unlicensed practice of massage parlors. Vance’s office moved to dismiss 5,080 cases related to prostitution, where most of the offenses were one of the three just mentioned, many of which went back to the 1970s and 80s. The anti-loitering law was repealed back in February, according to NPR.
It’s hookers for everyone!
Vance’s office made a press release explaining how the new policy will prevent future contact with the New York criminal justice system. I know a great way someone can avoid the criminal justice system. Don’t break the law!
The press release also stated that the policy will remove collateral consequences of being involved in a prostitution case and will “empower New Yorkers to interact with law enforcement without fear of arrest or deportation.”
It’s as if the district attorney’s office has thrown in the towel and given up. Their job will now be much easier I suppose.
“Over the last decade we’ve learned from those with lived experience, and from our own experience on the ground: criminally prosecuting prostitution does not make us safer, and too often, achieves the opposite result by further marginalizing vulnerable New Yorkers,” Vance said in a statement.
It also doesn’t stop or even slow down the rate of prostitution. The easily predicted result will be far more prostitution in the city.
I guess this means Vance has some friends in high places who like to pay for their mojo being enhanced every once in a while if you know what I mean. I can see horny high schooler boys diverting their yearly tribute from Porkey’s and Mardi Gras to Manhattan.
“By vacating warrants, dismissing cases, and erasing convictions for these charges, we are completing a paradigm shift in our approach,” he added.
Was the paradigm shift giving up and letting prostitution crimes growing exponentially?
Vance said part of the reason his office will no longer prosecute these types of crimes is that they had historically had a “disproportionate impact” on the LGBTQ community and that it served to “further marginalize” these “vulnerable populations,” according to NPR.
Here we go. Politics once again tops the safety of the people to support “protected” classes. So if the LGBTQ community was disproportionately robbing houses, would Vance stop prosecuting burglaries?
The statement also noted that charges can still be brought against individuals who are arrested for prostitution if they are found guilty of other crimes during their arrest. So there are checkboxes police now have to go through in order to bust a whore doing her thang on an open street corner for all to see. Great!
Believe it or not, there are sex worker advocates, and they have been pushing for the decriminalization of prostitution for a very long time, and ever since the Democratic Party went full-blown Woke these filthy people have been much more successful in their efforts. The New York State Assembly is right now considering a bill that will decriminalize prostitution throughout the Empire State. What could go wrong?
And the perverts in charge of things don’t stop at New York’s border. Marilyn Mosby, the district attorney from Baltimore, earlier this year said that her office will not prosecute prostitution anymore either, or drug possession, and many lower-level crimes.
It seems to me that certain groups of people regularly break the law and instead of learning their lesson and figuring out a better way to make a living they complained enough and greased enough Democrat hairy palms to help them not get into trouble by decriminalizing the crimes they continually break and then gaslight the American people by telling them that things like prostitution don’t really hurt anyone. It’s a mad world we now now live in.
