Mike Ditka, Hall of Fame NFL coach, said professional athletes who find the need to kneel during the playing of our national anthem ought to “Get the hell out of the country.”
After he blasted former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick for creating his own movement with Black Lives Matter in 2016, the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police hasn’t changed Ditka’s perspective.
You don’t make a spectacle in the game when the game has nothing to do with your political cause.
During a TMZ interview Sunday, Ditka said, “If you can’t respect our national anthem, get the hell out of the country.”
“That’s the way I feel. Of course, I’m old fashioned,” the former head coach and broadcaster went on. “So, I’m only going to say what I feel … You don’t protest against the flag, and you don’t protest against this country who’s given you the opportunities to make a living playing a sport that you never thought would happen. So, I don’t want to hear all the crap.”
Floyd’s death on Memorial Day has ignited massive protests and then riots in cities throughout the country which have continued through the summer.
As sports leagues like the MLB and NBA return in the course of the coronavirus pandemic, both leagues have granted players the right to voice their support of the BLM movement through their uniforms and other attire worn during warm-ups.
And that’s another reason why I’m no longer into professional sports. BLM is a Marxist organization, and for the major leagues to cower to them denies belief in a Benevolent Being.
During the MLB’s Opening Day earlier last week, the whole rosters of the Washington Nationals and New York Yankees knelt before the anthem while they clutched a single, long black cloth that stretched behind the foul lines. But, the teams stood up for the national anthem.
They may have saved the league by doing it that way.
The NFL could learn from that.
When the NFL returns, players said they’ll “without a doubt” kneel during the national anthem. Because we all know that the NFL is a racist organization that brutalizes black people every day in their communities, right? #SMH
