There was an incident where white students started singing along to racial slurs in rap lyrics at one of the most prominent school districts in Texas. I guess singing popular songs is now considered an “incident.”
The incident prompted the district to create a radical program to fight racism.
In the Dallas suburb of Southlake, the Carroll Independent School District is the top-achieving school district in Texas.
“It has no racial achievement gaps, which is nearly unheard of. That’s because Southlake attracts high-achieving families of all races,” wrote Joy Pullmann of The Federalist. “The local median income is more than four times the national average, and poverty there is statistically nonexistent. According to district data, ‘microaggressions,’ bullying, and racially charged incidents happen approximately three times per month in the district of 8,500 students, meaning they involve 0.3 percent of students a year.”
In other words, the school doesn’t really have any problems with race. So then why did the district overreact to videos showing students singing rap lyrics by creating programs they claim are meant to combat “institutional racism” but in reality do nothing more than shame students over their skin color? And how is there institutional racism if there are practically no racial problems at the school? If there is institutional racism, isn’t that the fault of the institution and not the students themselves?
The Federalist author reported that the district created a “Cultural Competence Action Plan” (CCAP) after the videos of the students singing the rap songs went viral saying, “sometimes-crying taxpayers, parents, and students spent hours insisting their lives have been forever damaged by the kind of ‘institutional racism’ in Southlake illustrated by the rap sing-alongs.”
The complaints, Pullmann said, are focused on incidents of teasing and graffiti, saying that the parents complaining made demands that the school district treats minor incidents as major crimes.
It appears that certain public figures made a rush to judgment over minor incidents, trying to make them appear far worse than what they really were. Maybe they want to feel Woke, and they had to make things up since real racial problems are pretty much nonexistent at the school?
From The Federalist:
Retired Dallas Cowboys player Russell Maryland and Robin Cornish, the widow of another Cowboy, who both have kids in the district, used national media appearances to pressure the town to enact a “Cultural Competence Action Plan,” or CCAP. A long-form article from NBC News in January that quotes Cornish accuses the town of harboring racists.
Cornish also told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in February 2019 the school district was “sweeping this under the carpet, and they are complicit. Unfortunately, this is the way our country is right now. Southlake is a microcosm of that. We have someone running the country right now who says it’s OK to be racist.”
“The idea that America is flawed because some people have a [racist] problem in their minds, that’s a recipe to keep you in poverty and unhappiness for the rest of your life,” said Juan Saldivar, a father of a Southlake student, to explain his opposition to restructuring Southlake schools around “systemic racism.” “My parents always told me it doesn’t matter whether people like you, it matters whether the law protects you, and it does.”
Some parents are pissed about the school’s program, some of them organizing into groups to oppose it because it’s stupid. For example, CCAP teaches students that anyone who has the temerity to see everyone as equals regardless of their race is inciting “cultural blindness,” which the school thinks is wrong. That’s just plain nuts.
My parents taught me and I raised my children to treat everyone the same in the Christian manner of “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” I guess that’s now considered racist. Critical Race Theory got rid of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s belief that we should be judged not by the color of our skin but by the content of our character.
“White privilege is being able to navigate daily life in the American culture without having to think about race,” appeared on a slide shown at a 2019 retreat to the school’s administrators. Another slide asked administrators, “What does it mean for you to be white?” and asked them to “Take a moment to talk with your neighbor about ‘Whiteness.’” They were then asked to “Name some characteristics of white culture.”
They canceled MLK.
Pullman wrote that during the discussions, “administrators were also told that being white is a bad thing.”
“It includes ‘white fragility,’ ‘a state in which even a minimal amount of racial stress becomes intolerable, triggering a range of defensive moves (anger, fear, guilt.. silence),’ Pullman reported. “Ironically, the presentation also warns against ‘stereotyping,’ which it says ‘happens when you generalize about a person while ignoring the presence of individual differences.’”
The teaching of white fragility says that America is plagued by systemic racism and that in turn causes lower outcomes for black people compared to other races. Logic would dictate that if black people and other people of color are part of the “system,” and they are, then they themselves must be racist too. It’s either systemic or it’s not, right? But who ever said that the race merchants use logic?
In this sense, systemic racism is just a term that is used to explain the failures of a black person when a specific racist cannot be identified for causing that black person to fail. They used to call it institutional racism, but that only pertained to institutions. Systemic racism includes everything.
The race merchants push the idea that systemic racism infects all white people even if they can’t identify it or they deny they think like a racist. That is the very definition of racism. Critical Race Theory and White Fragility are racist by definition. They also believe systemic racism infects all of our institutions, and that everyone must join the Woke Supremacy to accept these pre-conceived premises and work to dismantle and remake America, or they will be punished and canceled.
Critical Race Theory is nothing more than official permission for black people to be racist against white people. It’s very prejudicial and un-American.
Juan Saldiva, a parent of one of the students at Carrol, summed it up perfectly:
“I did everything I could to get my child into Carroll and it’s No. 1 in Texas, and I say I do not want my child growing up with this stuff being injected into her brain because it’s poison,” he said in an interview with Pullmann. “It’s the seeds of destruction that ruin one’s ability to grow up happy and be a leader in society.”
He hit the nail right on the head. Critical Race Theory is poison.
