On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to denounce rioters who took down a statue of Christoper Columbus in her hometown of Baltimore before they dragged it to the harbor and tossed it in like a piece of trash, blowing the whole thing off saying, “People will do what they do.”
“I think that its up to the communities to decide what statues they want to see,” Pelosi (D-CA) said when pressed on the July 4 incident where a mob of activists tore down the statue of Columbus, dragged it to the edge of Inner Harbor and threw it into the water, according to local media reports.
This woman is a complete disgrace. Put this in its proper perspective. Nancy Pelosi is the presiding officer of the United States House of Representatives, a body of lawmakers, and she just told the world that she couldn’t care less about not only vandalism and property crimes being committed throughout the nation, but of the wanton destruction of our country’s history and civil society. Put another way, Pelosi just admitted that she doesn’t take her role in government seriously. How can anyone take her seriously ever again?
Democrats don’t realize that their responses, words, and even body language can be taken as a message that it’s okay to continue to destroy our country. They convey the message of “screw you” to the millions of Americans who don’t want this kind of destruction happening to their country.
Explaining her defense of the indefensible, Pelosi, 80, said she isn’t “a sentimental person,” as if the statues were hers to give up. This disgraceful lawmaker even stooped so low as to compare the statues to her grandmother’s earrings, which she hadn’t kept due to her not being sentimental. Are you kidding me? Even I can’t believe how obtuse Pelosi is toward the destruction of our country. It has to be purposeful.
“I’m not one of those people who’s wedded to, ‘Oh, a statue to somebody someplace is an important thing’,” she told reporters at a press briefing on Capitol Hill.
“If the community doesn’t want the statue there, the statue shouldn’t be there,” she said, skipping over the rule of law. “I don’t care that much about the statues.”
Pelosi told the world that she doesn’t care about the rule of law. There is a process to have a statue removed. It is illegal to violate the process (rule of law) by physically toppling a statue instead.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives just spit on the rule of law, and her words and lackadaisical attitude about the country being torn apart from within should at least get her censured in the Congress.
There is a sculpture of Moses, the Original Lawmaker, sitting inside the House chamber. Will Pelosi allow it to be removed?
When one reporter pushed back on the Speaker, suggesting it might be better for the City Council to remove the statue than a “mob in the middle of the night,” the speaker said: “People will do what they do.”
Pelosi’s pathetic stance in favor of the toppling of statues across the country is in direct contrast to President Donald Trump, who has warned the rioters that the federal government will go after such people and charge them with crimes that bring heavy penalties.
Baltimore Mayor Bernard C. Jack Young stated he wouldn’t tolerate the destruction of the statue of the 15th century Italian explorer who colonized the Americas.
“If we identify them, they will be brought to justice,” Young mentioned, reported by the Baltimore Sun.
“We support peaceful protest. This is not a peaceful protest,” Young added. “It is unacceptable.”
