President Joe Biden lost 7 points on his approval rating that dropped down to the lowest level of his presidency as he completely botched the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan. They fell as the world watched the US-supported Afghan government totally collapse over the weekend while Taliban terrorists moved in with little to no resistance to take over the country causing turmoil that sent thousands of civilians and Afghan military members running for safety, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
Conducted on Monday, the national poll found that 46 percent of American adults approved of Biden’s performance in office, which turns out to be the lowest recorded people polled weekly since Biden took office in January.
That’s down from 53 percent of the same folks who felt the same way in a similar Reuters/Ipsos poll that was conducted Friday.
Biden’s popularity continued dropping the closer the Taliban got to the city of Kabul and got worse as the terror group washed away twenty years of US military presence, the likes of which cost thousands of American lives and close to a trillion dollars in treasure.
An Ipsos poll that was also conducted on Monday, found that less than half of Americans approved of the way Biden has steered the US military and diplomatic effort in Afghanistan this year. It’s almost as if his generals are more concerned about white rage and systemic racism than defending the country.
Biden, who last month celebrated Afghan military forces for being “as well-equipped as any in the world,” is now rated worse than the other three presidents who served during our nation’s longest war.
The US and her allies continued to evacuate diplomats and other civilians on Tuesday, a day after many Afghans descended upon the Kabul airport, trying desperately to get on a plane to get away from the incoming Taliban regime. Many of them fear retribution from the terrorists.
American opinions are varying while things are still evolving and as the Taliban continues its takeover of the country. Stories are leaking out of terrorists going door to door looking for journalists and others attacking young women and even girls. More stories coming out that Taliban soldiers are blocking roads that lead to the airport.
The Ipsos poll found that 75 percent of Americans agree with the decision to send additional troops to help secure key facilities in Afghanistan until the withdrawal is complete, and about the same amount agree with the evacuation of Afghans who helped US forces in the country. So how come Biden doesn’t? He left thousands of Americans and allies there to fend for themselves.
In many cases, people from both sides of the aisle appeared to share the same views on the war where six in ten Republicans and seven in ten Democrats agreed that the swift capitulation of the Afghan government “is evidence why the US should get out of the conflict.”
The biggest mistake was the attempt at nation building. The people in that region have been there for a thousand years and they live in tribes. We just witnessed civilization western style while we were there, and not even the minute we left, but as we were leaving, the thousand-year stench of tribalism marched right back in.
44 percent of those surveyed said they thought Biden has done a “good job” in Afghanistan. Those would be Twitter bots and stoners.
51 percent agreed with the way former presidents Donald Trump and Barack Obama handled the war. I would argue Trump was the only one who did the right thing, as we went 18 months without a single casualty. He created a plan to get us out while protecting Americans first, then our allies who had to leave, and his plan was to take all of our military equipment and to blow up all the bases so that the Taliban couldn’t use it. Joe Biden deviated from Trump’s plan because he has a child-like brain in that he couldn’t bring himself to follow a deal that was made between the Taliban and former President Donald Trump. He wanted to be able to own the withdrawl from our longest war and he screwed it all up.
This polling that shows the big drop in Biden’s numbers should be viewed specifically for this week alone, because many suspect things will get much worse for President House Plant as the Taliban start to get really ugly and Biden makes even more stupid decisions on handling how we’re going to get our people out.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll was run online, was done in English throughout the United States. It surveyed 947 American adults, including 403 Democrats and 350 Republicans.
The Ipsos online snap poll surveyed 1,000 people, including 443 Democrats and 247 Republicans.
The results of both polls have a credibility interval of 4 percentage points.
Joe Biden is completely responsible for the botching of the withdrawal of our troops and the Taliban taking over a country we fought for twenty years to control them, but hey, at least there are no more mean tweets, right?
