Leftists lie so much that the best way to read them is by seeing things from the exact opposite of their viewpoint.
Case in point. When the Florida legislature passed a bill that Governor Ron DeSantis signed to abolish the Walt Disney Company’s self-governing district, leftists started posting on social media that the move was going to cost Florida residents a lot of money. It was a lie.
On Thursday, Governor DeSantis’s spokeswoman Christina Pushaw said that the governor has a plan to protect residents of Orange and Osceola counties so that they would not have to pay for the action of abolishing Disney’s corporate district.
Since DeSantis moved to abolish the Reedy Creek Improvement District, the Disney folks have started a narrative that there is a $1 billion bond debt that is still outstanding and they lied by saying that Florida residents will have to pay it off. Again, it was a lie.
The spokeswoman came back saying, “Do not fall for another partisan political lie being amplified by media.”
Pushaw gave a statement explaining:
The plan for Reedy Creek will be shared in the next few weeks. As Governor DeSantis has said, Disney will pay its fair share of taxes, and abolishing the special district will not cause tax increases for the residents of any area of Florida.
Partisan politicians (and their stenographers in the press) are making unsubstantiated statements that do not stand up to basic logic. Let’s think about this for a minute: If it’s true that the repeal of the special district would hand Disney a tax break, and the local taxpayers would be on the hook for this bail-out to Disney… then why would Disney oppose repealing their special district? Indeed, why wouldn’t Disney have lobbied to get rid of the special district long ago?
This would not be the first time partisan opponents and the media throw a fit about some baseless hypothetical that disappears from the headlines after Governor DeSantis proves them wrong. [Emphasis added]
About the Reedy Creek special district: Disney will pay its fair share of taxes. Floridians, including residents of Orange and Osceola Counties, will not be on the hook. Do not fall for another partisan political lie being amplified by media.😎

DeSantis said that the move to abolish Reedy Creek Improvement District can be seen as a first step to ensure that Disney “should not run its own government.” By threatening to attack government at the appeasement of badgering leftist groups, Disney crossed a line when it said the company was going to either get the legislature (that just passed it) to appeal the law or to get the courts to overturn it. The fact is, the district and tax considerations that Disney enjoyed for decades were privileges that are now being revoked.
For over 50 years, the radical Left has weaponized corporate speech. From Nabisco making Oreo cookie commercials about LGBTQ+ with nothing in it to do with cookies, to Major League Baseball punishing the state of Georgia by removing the All-Star game from Atlanta because the state adopted election integrity laws in the wake of the 2020 election steal, to city governments going after Chick-Fil-A because the founder expressed in a magazine article that he was pro-traditional marriage to Barack Obama attacking Hobby Lobby and the Sisters of the Poor to about a thousand of times when leftists got corporations to act woke or got Democrat governments to punish corporations for not being woke, it’s about time woke corporations learned that conservatives are now willing to punish back within the confines of the law. Conservatives don’t usually do things like that, but the Left are never going to stop doing it unless they realize it could be far worse for them.
