During a Thursday press conference, Senate minority leader Chuck You Schumer (D-NY) said that if President Trump issues the executive orders on the economy that he has promised to do if Congress can’t reach an agreement on the subsequent round of CV-19 relief, the orders “will leave most people out, will not cover the broad expanse of what’s needed, will be litigated in court, and be awkward and difficult to implement.”
Actually, the executive orders cover a lot of ground to help Americans in need. It suspends the Payroll Tax, which helps everyone who works. The EO’s offer a student loan repayment deferral to help graduates paying off student loans to survive with what little they have thanks to draconian measures taken mostly by Democrats during the pandemic that has shut the economy down. Trump’s EO also halted evictions for renters who can’t pay their rent because their jobs have been destroyed thanks to the Chinese virus, and Trump is extending and increasing unemployment benefits. These are all the things Schumer is saying he disagrees with. Good luck, Chuck.
Schumer said, “I would say, right now, the president only has two choices: The first is to negotiate with Democrats. He knows Republicans can’t pass a bill, and you probably can’t even a majority of Republican senators to vote for any bill, let alone the House. So, the — one choice, the best choice, is to continue negotiating with us and realize he has to meet a compromise in the middle. It can’t be all his way or 95 or 90 percent his way. The second choice is to try these executive orders, which will leave most people out, will not cover the broad expanse of what’s needed, will be litigated in court, and be awkward and difficult to implement. It’s not a good choice at all.”
That’s rich considering that the Democrats almost always demand everything be done their way or they’ll hold up progress. That’s exactly what they’re doing now, which is why the president said he would do executive orders in the first place.
Everything they just said is a lie. And the Fake News will run with it as gospel truth.
Another amazing thing is how Schumer can whine about an executive order based on helping the American people in need being challenged in court when he cheered on President Barack Obama who created the DACA program on an executive order based on no power whatsoever from either the Constitution or the Congress. The hypocrisy of the minority leader knows no bounds.
Since Trump has already signed the executive orders to help American families, Schumer and Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) are threatening legal action. I think the president knows his executive orders will be shot down, but look at the position Trump has put the two Democratic Party leaders in.
Can you see the optics? Pelosi and Schumer will come bursting out of the courthouse with a victory shouting to any news camera in sight saying, “We won! Now, American people, get back in your houses. You… get… nothing!”
