Let the whitewashing begin.
On MSNBC’s “All In” on Thursday, Biden Senior Adviser Symone Sanders, who back in 2016 made the racist statement, “We Don’t Need White People Leading The Democratic Party,” mentioned Biden’s crime record by stating that she doesn’t want to relitigate issues from the early 90s.
She claimed that the context was in a country where crime was out of control. Demands for something to be done had resulted in the Clinton crime bill, which was actually written by Senator Joe Biden.
She then tried to spin something good out of the bill claiming that Biden’s crime bill created a practice investigation, which is “the only measure that we currently have to hold rogue police departments accountable.”
Really? How come nobody ever touted that load of horse hockey until now? She’s trying to whitewash the ever-hated Clinton/Biden crime bill, and the Fake News media are compliant.
That’s all fine and dandy, but the context of how Biden pushed for the legislation doesn’t exactly line up with how his handlers are now trying to gaslight America over it.
Here’s Senator Joe Biden in his own words lobbying for his crime bill.
WATCH:
Host Chris Hayes asked, “Joe Biden, of course, has unveiled a bunch of reform measures, some of them in line with the House Democratic package. Some people have noted that Biden is an interesting fit for this moment. Joe Biden has a long career in public life. He has been a law and order kind of politician at many points in his life. He was an architect — one of the architects of the crime bill. He’s been endorsed by the police union in his home state of Delaware. He’s called for harsher penalties on people that threw raves or things like that. I guess my question to you is, do you think — has Joe Biden changed the way he views the American criminal justice system or policing, or have the times changed? How do you see that trajectory?”
Sanders responded, “Well, Chris, I really do not enjoy attempting to, relitigate what was happening in the early ’90s when I was like three years old, but I think context is important here. And –.”
Hayes interrupted, “Well, you work for Joe Biden, though. I mean, he was there.”
I sometimes wonder if leftist hosts and leftist guests get together before a segment to work out exactly how they’re going to play-act their appearance.
She also repeated the lie that Trump had tear gas used on “peaceful protesters” outside Lafayette Park during the riots last week.
She also accused Trump of doing a photo op by holding up a Bible in front of the church that the rioters had recently set on fire, yet no mention of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer, and a gaggle of other Democrats wearing scarves made from African Kente cloth while kneeling in honor of George Floyd. The president made that historical walk and posed in front of the church to send a message that the United States is still whole, that we weren’t going to be defeated by Marxists rioting and looting in our streets.
Sanders then said, “Look, the context is important here, though, Chris. And I will tell you that, at the time of the crime bill, there was rampant crime in this country. Mayors, pastors, folks all across the board were crying out for reform. But here’s the important point here, that the only mechanism we currently have in this country to hold police officers accountable was a measure that was written into the crime bill: pattern or practice investigation. That is the only measure that we currently have to hold rogue police departments accountable. It is a power that the Obama-Biden Justice Department exercised, and which resulted in consent decrees in places like Ferguson and Baltimore. And once Donald Trump came into office, it was his Justice Department, first led by Jeff Sessions, that sought to undo, specifically, the consent decree in Baltimore.”
WATCH:
This is leftist gobbledygook. For years black activists have complained about how the Clinton crime bill incarcerated thousands of young black men with long sentences for non-violent crimes. And now that the author of that bill is running for president in the Democratic Party, they want to make you believe that everything they said for two decades never happened.
President Donald Trump started the process of reversing Biden’s crime bill when he signed the First Step Act, which gives prisoners who were victims of the Biden crime bill a second chance in life by getting an early release. It was the right thing to do, and even though Democrats tried to get it done for years, and Trump came along and actually did it, they will never give him credit for doing the right thing.
Sanders then talked about police and criminal justice reforms that Biden has proposed, like a pattern or practice reviews for prosecutors. I wonder if he’ll remember any of it the next time someone brings it up?
