The Washington Redskins will cave to the woke crowd and remove the name ‘Redskins’ on Monday.
Nobody yet knows when a new team name will be announced for one of the league’s oldest franchises. Maybe they should be called the Soy Boys?
ESPN, the Washington Times, USA Today and others reported that Dan Snyder, the Soy Boy’s owner, is getting ready to “retire” the name.
On Saturday, Yahoo News, which sometimes claims to actually do news, declared a name change was imminent.
In all seriousness, the franchise team can do whatever it wants to do, but like with the riots and looting recently, a caving like this will send a message to the crazies on the Left that everything that offends them is open season for threats.
The team launched a ‘thorough review’ of the name July 3 that the NFL supported.
That action took place after Redskins’ top sponsors FedEx, Bank of America, Nike and PepsiCo asked the team to change the name. It’s ironic that the Marxists who hate capitalism have used it through the threat of sponsor money going away to get what they want here.
FedEx is the sponsor for the Redskins’ stadium in Landover, Maryland. FedEx CEO Frederick Smith is a minority owner of the franchise.
Nike, who caved a long time ago to Colin Kaepernick, the America-hating failed quarterback, and other companies pulled Redskins team gear from their online shops.
Not until the Marxists came along were there any Native American leaders, not smoking Peyote while reading a history book by Howard Zinn, were offended by the team’s name. But that’s changed.
Over a dozen Native American leaders and organizations wrote to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell last week demanding an immediate end to Washington’s use of the name.
The letter that was obtained by The Associated Press, said they “expect the NFL to engage in a robust, meaningful reconciliation process with Native American movement leaders, tribes, and organizations to repair the decades of emotional violence and other serious harms this racist team name has caused to Native Peoples.”
Racist team name? Only to those who live in the History of Now is it a racist name. Redskins was a tribute to Native Americans.
There is no other context to take it. Sane people have been over this time and again. The name Redskins was get across the idea of how tough the team would be, after all, they’re named after a proud and strong people.
Should change the name of the state of Oklahoma too? It comes from two Choctaw words, okla (people) and humma (red): Red People.
