While Democrats across the country are scrambling to remove COVID restrictions, all in the name of saving themselves in the midterms, New York City Democrats are playing a different tune. Thousands of municipal workers in the city could lose their jobs on Friday as Mayor Eric Adams said he will enforce the COVID-19 vaccine mandate deadline that was set by America’s worst mayor Bill de Blasio.
I bet a lot of New Yorkers are now wishing they voted for Curtis Sliwa instead of Adams, but they voted for party instead of their own rights as American citizens. Sliwa would have done away with vaccine mandates, so you get what you asked for.
Of New York’s 370,000 plus cops, firefighters, teachers, and other workers, the city said that around 3,000 of them are not in compliance with the mandate and they will be fired at the end of the day if they don’t get vaccinated.
Adams hasn’t budged on this even after groups that represent city workers protested to save their jobs and filed challenges in court against the mandate. He is as much a tyrant as the last clown.
“We have to be very clear; people must be vaccinated if they are New York City employees,” the mayor said on Thursday at a news conference. “Everyone understood that.”
Everyone understood it, but not everyone agreed. Adams just doesn’t give a rat’s rear about those who do not want to get this vaccine.
“We are not firing them,” the mayor asserted. “People are quitting. The responsibility is clear.” Riiiight. And I’m Mary, Queen of Scots.
“I want them to stay, I want them to be employees of the city, but they have to follow the rules,” he added.
Here’s how of the rails, toys in the attic, crazy progressives really are. Like de Blasio used to do, city officials are praising the vaccine mandate as a huge success, pointing out that 95 percent of the workforce has gotten at least one jab, which is up from 84 percent when the mandate was handed down in October. That only means you have a heck of a lot of city employees who now hold a grudge against city leaders.
They act as if forcing American citizens against their will to take experimental medicine into their bodies is a good thing, even though now we know that the vaccines are not working the way vaccines are supposed to work. The efficacy does not last. We now have people who are triple vaxxed (fully vaxxed and then got a booster shot) and they are catching COVID.
Labor unions that represent the city’s workforce formed a coalition and sued the city to block the mass firings. The city argued that losing 3,000 workers will not affect city services because these particular workers have been on unpaid leave since November.
On Thursday, a judge ruled for the city. The remarkable thing about this is that the question of the rights of the workers wasn’t ever an issue. It was about the proverbial trains running on time.
They wonder why so many New Yorkers are moving out and heading to the freedom of red states. For any New Yorker Democrats reading this, if you move to a red state, please don’t vote, because your voting patterns have caused all the problems blue states are facing today. Either don’t vote or go to the Public Library and read the US Constitution to learn how government is supposed to work.
