Top-Ranking FDA Officials Now Say We Should Treat COVID-19 Like the Flu

On Monday, high-ranking officials at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) wrote that America moving forward will need to accept COVID-19 as just another respiratory virus like the flu. Wait, what?

FDA Commissioner Robert Califf, Principal Deputy Commissioner Janet Woodcock, the infamous woman who many argue allowed the opioid epidemic, and top vaccine official, Dr. Peter Marks, wrote that COVID-19 will be around in the foreseeable future and must be accepted as another common virus in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

So, in other words, just like people get a flu shot each year, including me, the FDA is now saying that people will resort to getting a COVID shot each year, and like the flu shot, the COVID shots will be tailored to whatever strains are threatening the population that year.

“Widespread vaccine- and infection-induced immunity, combined with the availability of effective therapeutics, could blunt the effects of future outbreaks. Nonetheless, it is time to accept that the presence of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, is the new normal,” the officials wrote. “It will likely circulate globally for the foreseeable future, taking its place alongside other common respiratory viruses such as influenza. And it likely will require similar annual consideration for vaccine composition updates in consultation with the [FDA].”

If you remember, at the beginning of the pandemic, before the Democrats weaponized it against former President Donald Trump and then used it to control Americans by locking them down, elected officials and many in the misinformation news media likened COVID-19 it to the flu. In fact, many started reporting that the flu kills more people than COVID. But then, more and more people were dying from COVID than the flu. Many people suspect the number of COVID deaths were exaggerated and politicized, but we can conclude that far more people died from COVID than from influenza. And most of them could have been saved if the same politicians and misinformation news media hadn’t trash talked the use of ivermectin as an early treatment for COVID-19. In the end, when vaccines became widely available last year, the mortality rate from COVID started getting closer to that of the flu.
