US Enemies Can Get Hold of Your DNA You Send to Private Companies to Create Biochemical Weapons

You would think that in the age of high tech, people would get smarter about decisions they make that could affect their lives. Turns out, not really.

Lawmakers are now warning that giving your DNA to private companies, for whatever reason, could raise serious national security risks.

At a recent Aspen Security Summit, Army veteran and Representative Jason Crow (D-CO) warned that America’s enemies, including Russia and China, are developing biochemical weapons that could target specific people or specific types of people. Think blood types that could kill or make a target sick while not affecting everyone that the target came in contact.

According to Crow, researchers are using DNA obtained from private companies to tailor the weapons to the genetic information of the DNA acquired. He also pointed out that our enemies can get the information very easily.

“You can’t have a discussion about this without talking about privacy and the protection of commercial data because expectations of privacy have degraded the last 20 years,” Crow said. “Young folks actually have very little expectation of privacy, that’s what the poll and the data shows.”

That makes sense. Young people never grew up in a world where personal privacy was treasured and guarded. With giving all of their information over to the Internet for the expectation of some free wonderland to waste their time on, they don’t know any better.

Crow continued: “And people will very rapidly spit into a cup and send it in to 23andMe and get really interesting data about their background and guess what? Their DNA is now owned by a private company that can be sold off with very little intellectual property protections or privacy protections.”

As censored conservatives have learned from the tech tyrants, it’s all in the terms of service.

Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) warned that a threat of a biochemical attack isn’t going to hit just humans, but it they will target the food supply. Hitting the food supply attacks more humans than individual attacks. Ernst underscored that our enemies can weaponise diseases that have already plagued the agriculture sector to kill off animals and plants used for food.

“So not necessarily those specific human targets with a particular type of weaponized biological weapon, but also if we look at food security and what can our adversaries do with biological weapons that are directed at our animal agriculture, at our agricultural sector,” Ernst explained.

Congress, for once, can work together to pass legislation geared toward protecting the American people from giving up their personal DNA that can be sold to bad actors. You can still give your DNA to companies like ancestry.com, but legislation would make it a federal felony to sell or give away your DNA to anyone.
