The Biden white House is once again mixing up its messaging, this time contradicting itself over how prepared the administration was for the rise in COVID-19 case numbers because of the omicron variant and the demand for at-home COVID tests.
While President Joe Biden and his Vice President Kamala Harris have both suggested that they were caught off guard by the enormous spread of omicron, other people in the administration are saying that it’s not the case.
“This is what we have been preparing for,” Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Rochelle Walensky, who 11 months ago was a college faculty member, told Fox News on “Special Report” on Tuesday. “There have been doubling times of this virus in other countries that have had the virus before us in one-and-a-half- to three-day range. So this is exactly what we anticipated.”
Walensky made the statement after Biden had already said on the same day that the low number of tests available wasn’t due to the administration’s failure, but because of an unforeseeable rise in cases. I call bullschtein! Biden says they were caught off guard and hours later Walensky says they were prepared?
“It just happened almost overnight just in the last month. And so, it’s not a failure, but an alarm bell went off. I don’t think anybody anticipated that this was going to be as rapidly spreading as it did,” Biden responded when he was asked if the current lack of tests was due to an administration failure.
Biden then said he did anticipate the demand. That’s because Democrats can say whatever they want.
“There was a big, big rush, and I knew that was coming,” he said.
When you think about it, the Biden CDC has been predicting that 15,600 people per week will die from the omicron variant of COVID, even though all reports out of South Africa and elsewhere are saying that the new variant is very mild.
They can’t have it both ways. They cannot predict that 15,600 people every week are going to die and then claim they were caught off guard for how many home tests they were going to need because they didn’t anticipate the high numbers concerning omicron.
Biden’s comments came just days after Harris told the LA Times that the administration was caught off guard by omicron and the delta variant before that. It almost seems like they wanted to admit failure because it would emphasize the enormity of omicron so that they could use that to hype fear and push for more lockdowns and vaccinations. But then, something happened, and they realized it would be worse if the messaging went out that they were not ready for the variant wave, even though they were predicting a dark winter and 15,600 deaths per week. Democrats are used to changing their messaging and gaslighting the public to believe they never made their previous statements.
“We didn’t see delta coming. I think most scientists did not — upon whose advice and direction we have relied — didn’t see delta coming,” Harris told the newspaper in an interview published Friday. “We didn’t see omicron coming. And that’s the nature of what this, this awful virus has been, which as it turns out, has mutations and variants.”
The administration then got their lie straight and declared that the White House was not caught off guard by the variants.
“The Vice President’s comments referred to the exact kind of mutation,” said a statement by an adviser to the vice president “The administration knew mutations were possible, it [is] the reason we ordered extra tests, extra gear and extra PPE.”
