Do you remember the movie “War games”? At the end of the movie, the computer runs through every possible move in a nuclear war, and in the end, the computer decided that the only way to win is not to play. Born loser Adam Kinzinger has not seen the movie. He is offering a resolution that would allow Biden to send in troops to fight in the war against Russia should they use WMDs.
The thing is that if we join Ukraine in the war, it could very well turn nuclear. The other thing is that it would probably not be just us against Russia, it would be us against Russia and China. China would see it as a way to destroy the United States and they would know that it would be much easier for them to defeat Russia than it would be to defeat the United States.
The New York Post reported that Kinzinger said:
“I don’t think we need to be using force in Ukraine right now. I just introduced an AUMF, an authorization for the use of military force, giving the president basically congressional leverage for permission to use it if [weapons of mass destruction] — nuclear, biological, or chemical — are used in Ukraine.”
“Words matter, but so do our actions. I’m introducing this AUMF as a clear redline so @POTUS can take appropriate action if Russia uses chemical, biological, and/or nuclear weapons. We must stand up for humanity and we must stand with our allies.”
Is Ukraine that vital to our interests to get us to enter into nuclear warfare? Secondly, it would place the decision-making in the hands of a man who does not have control of his faculties and whose family probably already has a plan to monetize the war in their favor.
In the immediate aftermath of the attacks on September 11, 2001, Congress passed an AUMF. In doing so, the national legislature authorized former President George W. Bush to use the U.S. military to launch military campaigns in the pursuit of punishing the terror groups that launched the attacks.
Congress approved a similar AUMF for the 2002 invasion of Iraq.
Kinzinger said that the U.S. must similarly be ready to engage in military conflict on behalf of Ukraine.
