Why would Mayor Lori Lightfoot accept the same help from Joe Biden that she refused from President Trump? Simple. Defeating Donald Trump was more important than the lives of the people of Chicago.
If dozens of them had to be sacrificed for the Democrats to grab power, so be it.
Lightfoot has now asked Biden to send federal troops into Chicago to clean up her mess.
The final straw was the Fourth of July weekend in which 108 people were shot. Crime has been on the rise ever since Lightfoot was sworn into office. But, as crime rose, President Trump contacted Lightfoot and offered to send in troops to help cut down the gun violence.
She refused saying:
“‘Troops’ are forces that come from the military and obviously that is not what is needed in Chicago. I have made it clear that we do not need nor want troops – or any unnamed federal officers that we’ve seen in news reports from Portland. I am confident that I’ve made that point crystal-clear on your behalf.”
Lightfoot made that comment because of unconfirmed reports of federal officers kidnapping people off the streets in unmarked vans. Even the left-wing Snopes could not confirm the reports. They said one person came forward and made that claim but no one else has. Yet, several Democratic elected officials made similar claims, there were unable to name a single instance of kidnapping. And I doubt that Biden will send in any federal troop-s that will actually be allowed to do their job.
Yet, through it all, Lightfoot blamed the violence she oversaw in Chicago on President Trump, who actually offered to help. She has been an utter failure and has been so bad that people actually miss Rahm Emanuel.
In fact, Lightfoot even blamed Trump for the violence in her city, which she claimed was “a direct result of a failure of federal leadership.”
Curiously, Joe Biden, who is an advocate of gun control, has not been accused of failed federal leadership for the massive number of gun crimes in Lightfoot’s city.
It’s almost as if Lightfoot rejected Trump’s help last summer because of politics—choosing to grandstand rather than protect the people in her city. She blamed Trump’s lack of leadership for her city’s violence, yet she ultimately proved her own lack of leadership with her refusal to accept help when she first needed it. After rejecting it from Trump, Lightfoot’s requesting help from Biden shows she’ll always put partisanship before the very people she is supposed to be serving.
