AG Bill Barr allegedly told federal prosecutors to charge rioters with sedition. He also allegedly asked them to look into the possibility of criminal charges against the Seattle mayor. Mayor Jenny Durkan allowed BLM to set up CHAZ/CHOP in a six square block section of Seattle. No mayor should turn over any part of their city, but it has happened quite a bit. Of course, it is in all cities run by Democrats.
Durkan of course blamed all of her failures on Trump just as failed mayor, Ted Wheeler has done. Seattle councilmember Kshama Sawant (Socialist Alternative) is being recalled for aiding the rioters in Seattle. She outed Durkan’s address and gave her key to city hall to the rioters. A judge ruled on Wednesday that the recall petition could go forward.

The attorney general has also asked prosecutors in the Justice Department’s civil rights division to explore whether they could bring criminal charges against Mayor Jenny Durkan of Seattle for allowing some residents to establish a police-free protest zone near the city’s downtown for weeks this summer, according to two people briefed on those discussions. The directives are in keeping with Mr. Barr’s approach to prosecute crimes as aggressively as possible in cities where protests have given way to violence.
The Wall Street Journal cited people in the know Barr encouraged these charges of the rarely used Sedition Act against the rioters. He said to do this even if they are eligible for state charges. But, why shouldn’t he? The cities and states have been letting the vast majority arrested to walk. Why is the press crying crocodile tears over those who brought devastation to America’s streets?
According to Law and Crime, the seditious conspiracy statute, 18 U.S. Code § 2384 is used to prosecute those who try to overthrow the government by violent means. That fits the rioters. Durkan has only aided and abetted the rioters. The Sedition Act would especially apply to those who tried to breach the federal courthouse in Portland. They also tried to burn it to the ground.
Durkan likened the CHAZ/CHOP zone as a street festival, celebrating the summer of love. The summer ended quickly after two Black men were shot and killed in the CHAZ zone. Love ain’t what it used to be, I guess. The occupiers in the CHAZ zone allegedly shook down business owners for the right to remain open. Police Chief Carmen Best, who eventually resigned over defunding of the police claimed that crime was rampant in the zone.
Best tried very hard to do her job but she was hindered by the Democrats running the city. She resigned and people should applaud her for that bold move. The police morale is in the cellar. They are demonized daily, not just by rioters but city officials as well. Their job has become much harder. No one has their back. They are attacked on a daily basis by the rioters, and their ability to fight back has been curtailed.

Barr reportedly made the assertion in call with federal prosecutors last week where he also said that demonstrations that could turn violent are likely to increase ahead of the November presidential election, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Some on the call including US attorneys from across the country were alarmed by the suggestion to charge protesters with sedition, The New York Times reported.
The Journal reported that sedition charges are rarely used. Legal experts said in order for there to be a sedition charge there has to be proof that there was a conspiracy to attack government officials or agents that posed an “imminent danger,” and they warned that there’s a fine line between anti-government sentiment that could be protected as free speech, and a plot to overthrow the government.

I hope that they do. It is probably the only way that the rioting, looting and property damage will end, because they would face consequences.
Maybe the American people can finally get those held accountable for the wrong they did in allowing the kaos to continue and destruction of property and businesses and murder that is on their heads.
