A Democratic lawmaker on the House Armed Services Committee, said Thursday that the US government isn’t responsible for the safety of people who can’t pass through numerous Taliban checkpoints in order to reach the airport in Kabul.
If nothing else tells you that Democrats could care less about Americans, this certainly should. I’ll bet if illegal aliens were trapped Biden would move Heaven and Earth to rescue them.
Biden claims he did the right thing in Afghanistan. He removed the troops and then told Americans to evacuate. That is exactly backward. It reminds me of the story of a man who comes home and finds his wife in bed with another man. He whipped out a gun and put it to his own head. The wife and her lover began laughing and the husband said, “Go ahead and laugh, but you’re next.”
Rep. John Garamendi (D-Calif.) told CNN in an interview that “it makes no sense whatsoever” to send in troops to rescue Americans in Kabul. But, let me point out that the British are doing exactly that. But, then again Britain is not ruled by Democrats. And be honest, what would you be saying if this were Donald Trump and not Joe Biden? It would be impeachment time once again. But, Nancy Pelosi is gushing about how brilliantly Biden is handling Afghanistan.
Garamendi said:
“The people in Kabul and in other parts of [Afghanistan] are going to have to do the best they can to get [to the airport]. There is no way the American military should use military force to go to someone’s house or some building somewhere to extract people. That will create a very significant problem and a very significant loss of life on both sides.”
“To provide safe passage from parts of a huge city? No way — not sensible.”
The Biden administration was caught unprepared when the Taliban seized control of Kabul on Sunday, defeating the Afghan security forces that Biden had promised would be capable of continuing the fight in the country’s civil war without direct U.S. military support.
Though the administration is currently running flights out of the country from Kabul’s airport, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin acknowledged Wednesday that the U.S. military does not have the capability to guarantee the safety of Americans who are unable to reach the airport.
“I don’t have the capability to go out and extend operations currently into Kabul,” Austin told reporters.
