Federal prosecutors refuse to hand over text messages and emails of the twelve FBI informers used to allegedly entrap six people into a plot to kidnap Gov Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan.
There are plenty of reasons to suspect that the informers entrapped the alleged conspirators, including the fact that their first few meetings were in hotels paid for by the informant and in which food was supplied to entice people to show up for the meetings.
The FBI cannot make up a plot and to entice people into joining is an illegal act, but under Christopher “Deep State” Wray, anything is possible and in most cases probable. He is noted for his willingness to hide exculpatory evidence, although we do not know if he was involved in the decision to withhold the evidence in this case.
It is possible that the defendants could walk if the texts and emails aren’t handed over. It would be hard for them to say the release of the material would hurt national security. If the evidence is not produced, they could not charge them again with a more favorable judge because the charges would be dropped with prejudice. If it was entrapment, there should be a full accounting of who authorized and facilitated the plot.
According to a report BuzzFeed News published last month, the FBI was involved in every aspect of the Whitmer kidnapping case – starting with its inception!
FBI informants/agents actually helped hatch the kidnapping plot which means there would be no conspiracy case without the FBI.
One FBI informant organized all the meetings early on and paid for hotel rooms and food to entice the patsies.
It is illegal for FBI informants to hatch plots and encourage violence.
Defense lawyers are arguing the informants drew people into the conspiracy and that there is potential evidence of entrapment.
