The Loudoun teen sex offender who attacked girls at two different schools has been removed from the sex offender’s registry.
Loudoun County Judge Pamela Brooks said in announcing her decision:
“This court made an error in my initial ruling, The court is not vain enough to think it’s perfect, but I want to get it right.”
What does she think she got wrong? He raped a girl in one school and less than two weeks later, he sexually assaulted another girl. That seems pretty clear cut to me, but not to the corrupt Loudoun County Board of Supervisors. The boy was found guilty of two charges of sodomy against the first girl, but was not convicted, but was instead taken to a juvenile detention center where he will be held until he is 18.
Commonwealth Attorney Buta Biberaj, who said prior that the boy was released from jail due to having no “history” of assault, argued that putting him on the registration was for the community’s safety and wellbeing. He requested he remains on the list until he reached the age of 30.
Caleb Kershner — who sits on the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors and also served as an attorney for the boy, pushed the fact that the boy was a victim and not the criminal. The father of the girl who was raped does not agree with that assessment. He considers his daughter who was raped to be the victim.
“We are setting him up for failure,” Kershner claimed in his closing remarks. “We’ve never concentrated on [the boy] — we’re not even giving this young man a chance.” The board member also said the 15-year-old has been “cheated” by the “failure of the system.”
Scott Smith, the father of the victim raped at Stone Bridge High School, believes it is his family that has been wronged by the system. He released a statement after the hearing describing how he and his wife are “heartbroken” and “mad at how the justice system and the Loudoun County Commonwealth’s attorney has let down [his] daughter, as well as the other victims of his predatory actions.”
