There is little hope for presidential debates in the 2024 race for president and although it allows the Democratic candidate from embarrassing themselves, it does away with biased debates where moderators mislead and outright lie to promote their progressive candidates. Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) always seems to pick the most liberal commentators from CNN and NBC to moderate the debates and the one time they picked Fox, they selected the liberal Chris Wallace as moderator.
Wallace is now with CNN, so he could have gotten another chance to trash Trump from the moderator’s chair. This move by the RNC is way overdue. If there are no debates, there is no need for the Commission on Presidential Debates. To save their jobs they would have to select objective moderators, but I don’t see that happening. The CPD will just go into the history books just like the dinosaurs.
RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said:
“The RNC will initiate the process of amending the Rules of the Republican Party at our upcoming Winter Meeting to prohibit future Republican nominees from participating in CPD-sponsored debates.”
In 2020 McDaniel said:
“We’ve seen the president actually increase in his numbers. I think voters are very angered by the corrupt debate commission, that they would cancel a debate. I think it feeds into the belief that this 47 years that Joe Biden has had in D.C. is again protecting him from facing the voters. And Americans are frustrated that this election commission interfered with our ability to see these two candidates debate.”

Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel in the letter addressed to Frank Fahrenkopf and Kenneth Wollack, the CPD’s co-chairs, saying that GOP voters “have lost faith” in the commission’s ability to act in a nonpartisan manner.
McDaniel listed multiple reasons for the RNC’s actions, citing the CPD’s decision to wait until early voting already started before holding the first 2020 presidential debate and its failure “to maintain the organization’s strict nonpartisanship.”
The proposed changes are set to be voted on during the RNC’s winter meeting in Salt Lake City in February. McDaniel added that the CPD “so far seem[s] designed to delay any reform until it is too late to matter for the 2024 election.”
