The wealthy Buckhead neighborhood in Atlanta is trying to secede from the city of Atlanta. Atlanta will fight to keep them because this one community accounts for 20% of all revenue for the city.
The residents complain that the Atlanta police force does not keep them safe. They currently have 84 officers assigned to Buckhead, whereas the city will hire 300 officers if they are permitted to leave Atlanta.
A prime example of the negligence of the Atlanta police occurred recently as a group of people were in line to enter a van.
As they were waiting to enter the van, a car executed a drive-by shooting that fortunately, only injured one person, but could have been much worse.
The troubling thing is that a reflection in the windshield of the van showed blue flashing lights which many people believe was a police vehicle that did not pursue the shooter.
But, it would not be the officer’s fault necessarily. In Atlanta, they have strict rules on police chases. Before you can pursue a vehicle, you must get permission from a supervisor. But that is an idiotic plan. While the officers wait for permission the shooter has gotten far away. This is just more political correctness that helps criminals get the upper hand on the police. There are many criminals they are not allowed to pursue at all.
The Associated Press reported in January that after Atlanta saw “one of its most violent years in decades,” the city reinstated officers’ ability to chase criminals. The conditions are such as to be as worthless as teats on a boar hog.

You can only pursue murderers and ones who attempted murder but only after they get permission. Giving criminals a head start is not wise in my not so humble opinion.
Bill White, the CEO and chairman of the Buckhead City Committee said on Tucker Carlson Tonight:
We are living in a war zone. That’s how we describe living in Buckhead, and what has happened in the last several years is that an incredibly dangerous spike in crime and a complete vacuum of leadership. The police in Atlanta are great police men and women, we love them. They just want to do their job, and they’re not being allowed to that.
So Buckhead and the beautiful families, a very diverse community, we, in fact, are the most diverse community in Atlanta, we have decided to file for divorce, and he divorce is final. And what we are saying to the city of Atlanta is we are going to form our own city. We have two bills in the state legislature; we have raised the requisite amount of money we need right now to move this forward; they’ll be a ballot initiative on the ballot next November, and we are going to take our city back for the great families of the city of Buckhead once and for all.
