It may finally happen. Julian Assange has been extradited to the United States. He does have one hope left. He can launch one final appeal, but if that fails, he will be headed to the United States to face espionage charges for leaks Wikileak published in 2010. The United States wants him locked up for the rest of his natural life. Although I disagree with what he did, a life sentence would not be justice considering the fact that the traitor who stole the documents served less than seven years.
The traitor who stole the documents was Bradley Manning, who later declared himself a woman and changed his name to Chelsea Manning. She was supposed to remain in prison until the year 2045. But, in 2017 just before he left office, Barack Obama commuted her sentence and had her released from prison. The Biden administration says that the information Wikileaks published put American lives in danger.
My question is, why is the publisher more responsible than the person who stole the documents? Something does not seem right and I can’t help but wonder if Seth Rich is the reason. If Wikileaks did get the DNC emails from Rich, the Democrats might want to keep him quiet and he could be withholding that information to use as a bargaining chip. Of course, that only applies if Rich did steal the emails and there is no proof that he did.
Britain’s Home Office said in a statement Friday:
“The U.K. courts have not found that it would be oppressive, unjust or an abuse of process to extradite Mr. Assange. Nor have they found that extradition would be incompatible with his human rights, including his right to a fair trial and to freedom of expression, and that whilst in the U.S. he will be treated appropriately, including in relation to his health.”
“Mr Assange has the right to apply to the High Court for leave to appeal against the decisions of both the District Judge and the Secretary of State’s decision to order extradition. An application must be made within 14 days of Mr. Assange being notified of the Home Secretary’s decision.”
Will Assange really be coming to the United States now? Will new revelations be coming out or will he commit suicide in a prison where the cameras are not working and he is not checked on for hours? Time will tell.
